Older Samsung Galaxy flagships may soon allow for easy file sharing with iPhones.
The Galaxy S25, Galaxy S24, and high-end foldables are set to receive AirDrop functionality soon.
Samsung’s newly introduced file-sharing feature compatible with iPhones could soon be available on more Galaxy devices. The company recently added AirDrop support to its latest Galaxy S26 flagship models, which has since been extended to the latest Galaxy A series.
Now, it seems that Samsung is planning to introduce the enhanced Quick Share capability to older flagship models, including the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
What will the new update bring?
According to a source on X (formerly Twitter), the upcoming One UI 8.5 beta for the S25, Z Fold7, and S24 series will include the AirDrop functionality. It is reportedly functioning in the internal ZZD1 build.
This feature first appeared as part of Samsung’s Quick Share update for the Galaxy S26 series, which is being rolled out globally. Support for additional models is expected to be announced later. While Samsung has not officially confirmed the list of compatible older devices, the recent leak seems credible. The update aims to simplify the process of sharing photos and files with users of iPhones, iPads, or Macs.
However, there is a caveat.
While this sounds promising for Samsung users, there are still concerns regarding the rollout. Some users are reporting that they do not see the "Share with Apple devices" option, while others mention that the feature isn’t functioning consistently. The rollout appears to be region-specific, which may account for the sporadic availability at this time.
If Samsung proceeds with a Galaxy S27 Pro, the name alone won’t be sufficient.
Samsung doesn’t require another name; it needs a more substantial in-between flagship option.
New speculation has emerged about the possibility of a new Galaxy Pro flagship phone, which makes sense for reasons other than excitement. Samsung might be planning to introduce a fourth Galaxy S27 model next year, with a "Pro" variant expected to sit just below the top-tier S27 Ultra. This model aims to fill the gap between the standard and Ultra Galaxy devices, incorporating premium features without the S Pen. Some of these advanced features could include the S26 Ultra's new Privacy Display.
Samsung is apparently not reserving all the outstanding new Galaxy AI features exclusively for the Galaxy S26 series. The company has confirmed that it is working on a software update to bring some of the newer AI functionalities introduced with the latest flagship lineup to previous models.
Google has implemented changes to the Play Store that improve the experience of navigating app reviews.
Users can now search reviews to quickly find specific issues, bugs, or subscription information. Google is rolling out a fix for one of the Play Store's most significant pain points: cluttered and hard-to-scan app reviews. A new feature allows users to directly access relevant feedback. Instead of sorting through numerous comments, users can now type in specific words and retrieve pertinent experiences instantly. While it's a minor update, it addresses a critical gap in how apps are assessed prior to download.
