The Samsung Galaxy S27 is set to introduce a new Pro version, which is essentially the Ultra model but without the S Pen.
Samsung is set to release four models of the Galaxy S27, including one that perfectly balances the Plus and Ultra versions.
Since 2020, Samsung has kept a consistent three-model Galaxy S lineup: standard, Plus, and Ultra. The upcoming Galaxy S27 series will change this. Industry insiders, initially reported by leaker Ice Universe on X, indicate that Samsung’s Mobile eXperience division will introduce a new “Pro” model, thus expanding the flagship lineup to include the Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra.
Breaking news! The Samsung Galaxy S27 series will feature a new “Pro” model, which essentially serves as an Ultra without the S Pen. Consequently, the lineup will now consist of four models: Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra. Samsung Electronics is preparing to add a new premium model to the Galaxy S27…— Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) April 6, 2026
What is the Galaxy S27 Pro?
Think of it as akin to the Galaxy Ultra, just without the S Pen. Rather than replacing the Plus model, it offers a new high-end option positioned between the Plus and Ultra. It's an ideal choice for those wanting the Ultra features without needing an S Pen. This may also lead to a lower price point, making the device more appealing.
An industry insider has confirmed that while specific details like display size are still being finalized, the overall direction is evident. Features exclusive to the Ultra, such as the privacy display that attracted significant attention on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, are anticipated to extend to both the Pro and Ultra models in the next generation.
Is this Samsung’s answer to Apple?
Apple currently has a lineup that includes four models: standard, Air, Pro, and Pro Max. According to Ice Universe's post, some analysts suggest that Samsung might be aiming to mirror this approach. However, in light of the poor sales of the S25 Edge, Samsung seems to prefer a Pro model rather than a slimmer version.
A brief note on the S Pen:
If you were expecting Samsung to reintroduce Bluetooth functionality in the S Pen, you might be disappointed. The S Pen’s Bluetooth feature was removed from the Galaxy S25 Ultra due to low usage, and the trend continued with the S26 Ultra.
Initial impressions after 12 hours with the Galaxy S25 Ultra:📐 New corners are less attractive but much more comfortable. 🖋️ Still annoyed, but I don't expect to miss the S Pen features (Samsung claims that less than 1% of customers utilized them). 🧠 The “Now Bar” summaries are… pic.twitter.com/XcHQBMSIse— Michael Fisher (@Captain2Phones) January 23, 2025
The addition of an S27 Pro could give Samsung some flexibility to bring back these features, but I wouldn’t count on it. Samsung reported to reviewer Michael Fisher that fewer than 1% of buyers used the Bluetooth capabilities, which is why the hardware was eliminated, and it seems unlikely the company will reconsider that soon.

If Samsung introduces a Galaxy S27 Pro, simply rebranding won’t be enough to ensure its success.
Samsung doesn’t just need another model; it requires a more compelling flagship option in the middle range. New rumors about a Galaxy Pro flagship phone have surfaced, making sense for less flattering reasons. Samsung appears to be preparing to launch a fourth model for the Galaxy S27 series next year, with a "Pro" variant expected to fit just below the high-end S27 Ultra. This model is designed to provide a link between the standard and Ultra Galaxy phones, featuring high-end capabilities but lacking the S Pen. Some top-notch features might include the new Privacy Display functionality from the S26 Ultra.
Samsung isn't keeping all of the best new AI features exclusive to the Galaxy S26 series. The company confirmed it is working on a software update that will bring newer AI capabilities first found on the latest flagship series to the S25.
Google is also implementing a fix for one of the Play Store's most irritating issues, which involves chaotic app reviews. A new feature will enable users to search reviews for specific complaints, bugs, or paywalls more efficiently. Instead of sifting through numerous comments, users can now type in specific terms to pull up relevant feedback instantly. This minor adjustment addresses a significant trust gap in app evaluations prior to downloading.
