      Star Wars Season 1 hasn't premiered yet, and already, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord is confirmed for a second season. Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni has revealed that Season 2 is officially in development at Lucasfilm Animation.

      Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord Season 1 will launch on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere on April 6, followed by two new episodes each week. While a release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced, its early renewal demonstrates strong confidence in the show.

      What is Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord about?

      For those unfamiliar, here’s a brief overview. Maul, one of the franchise's most legendary antagonists, was famously sliced in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace and subsequently revived in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

      This animated series consists of 10 episodes and takes place after The Clone Wars, featuring Maul as he seeks to restore his criminal empire on an untouched planet. During his journey, he meets a disenchanted young Jedi Padawan, who could potentially become the apprentice he requires.

      The confirmation of Season 2 before the premiere of Season 1 clearly indicates that Maul’s saga is just beginning.

      The impressive cast features Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominee Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson, Richard Ayoade as Two-Boots, Dennis Haysbert as Master Eeko-Dio Daki, Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara, among others.

      Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord will follow a two-episode-per-week schedule, launching every Sunday this month. Here’s the complete schedule:

      April 6 – Episodes 1 and 2: “The Dark Revenge” and “Sinister Schemes”

      April 13 – Episodes 3 and 4: “Whispers in the Unknown” and “Pride and Vengeance”

      April 20 – Episodes 5 and 6: “Inquisition” and “Night of the Hunted”

      April 27 – Episodes 7 and 8: “Call to the Oblivion” and “The Creeping Fear”

      May 4 – Episodes 9 and 10: “Strange Allies” and the final episode of Season 1, which is yet to be titled.

      It’s still too early to confirm the accuracy of this news. The announcement follows Jumanji 3's successful date change from December 11 to December 25, a week after Dunesday. Campea speculated that Marvel could adjust Doomsday's premiere to December 11, allowing it a week to screen the film on IMAX screens initially booked for Jumanji 3 before they shift to Dune: Part Three.
