      Google has made Fitbit's redesigned app available to everyone, featuring a more streamlined interface along with much-needed additions such as nutrition logging, cycle health updates, and a new mental well-being tracking feature.

      Fitbit has been working on revamping its app for quite a while, and as of March 31, 2026, the newly designed experience is no longer exclusive to early testers. Google has launched the Public Preview for all free users, eliminating the requirement for a Premium subscription to explore the new features.

      What does the updated Fitbit app look like?

      The new layout is more intuitive, replacing the previous navigation with a cleaner four-tab arrangement: Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health (according to 9To5Google). This redesign makes one wonder why it wasn’t implemented sooner.

      Free users can access fundamental health, fitness, and sleep tracking within the new layout. Premium subscribers benefit from additional features such as the Coach, a customized fitness plan, and enhanced personalization.

      So, what new features can users expect besides the visual refresh?

      A lot. The most anticipated addition is nutrition and water logging. Previously, using these features required returning to the old Fitbit app, which was inconvenient but functional for those who needed them.

      You can now establish calorie goals, log meals, and monitor water intake, alongside adjustable macronutrient targets for those seeking more dietary control.

      In addition to these features, Cycle Health has also received an update, allowing users to log symptoms and periods directly from the calendar. Premium users will get tailored cycle insights through the Coach feature.

      On the mental health side, mood logging and tracking of mindfulness sessions are now integrated. A revised stress metric, now referred to as “resilience,” provides insight into how your body copes with daily stressors.

      Overall, it’s a significant update, and it’s hard to argue against the cost for the majority of these features since they’re free.
