Airbnb introduces private car transfers in over 125 cities.
The newly launched service, now available across Asia, Europe, and Latin America, allows guests to pre-book airport and station transfers directly in the Airbnb app. However, it is currently unavailable in the US, Canada, or Africa.
Airbnb has introduced private car transfers in over 125 cities in Asia, Europe, and Latin America, collaborating with the UK-based airport transfer company Welcome Pickups to integrate this feature into its in-app Airbnb Services.
Beginning today, guests reserving stays in selected cities, such as Paris, Bali, and Mexico City, will have the option to pre-book a private car to or from their accommodation directly in the Trips tab.
While not yet offered in the United States, Canada, or Africa, Airbnb has expressed plans to extend the service to these regions in the future.
This feature succeeds a trial conducted earlier in 2026 in Europe and Asia, where thousands of users rated the service an average of 4.96 out of 5.
Welcome Pickups is available through Airbnb Services and offers pickups in both directions: arriving guests can opt for a meet-and-greet with a named driver waiting at the airport or station, and departing guests can be collected directly from their Airbnb listing.
All bookings, modifications, and views can be managed entirely within the Airbnb app without needing to visit Welcome Pickups’ platform.
This partnership marks a significant move in Airbnb’s strategy to expand beyond mere accommodation offerings. The company launched Airbnb Services in May 2025 with ten categories, including personal chefs, photography, massage, spa services, personal training, hair, makeup, nails, prepared meals, and catering across 260 cities.
Private car transfers are the newest addition to these services. CEO Brian Chesky highlighted the airport pickup pilot during an earnings call earlier this year, alongside grocery delivery, as part of an initiative to encompass the “entire trip,” rather than just the stay.
At ITB Berlin in March, Airbnb executives articulated their vision of including vacation rentals, hotels, and airport transportation all in one platform.
Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s Chief Business Officer, stated that the partnership is “designed to enhance a guest’s stay from the moment they arrive.”
Alex Trimis, CEO of Welcome Pickups, characterized the integration as incorporating the company’s existing airport transfer service “directly into the travel journey.”
For Airbnb, the rationale is obvious: airport pickups represent one of the most challenging moments in any trip, occurring immediately after a booking confirmation, and managing it within the app prevents users from switching to a competitor's service at that critical time.
Additional cities are anticipated to be added throughout 2026.
