AMD Radeon GPUs might soon have a greater impact on your finances.
Following a price increase in January, AMD's board partners may implement another price hike in the first quarter of 2026.
According to a recent report, AMD Radeon gaming graphics cards are anticipated to see another rise in prices soon. After a price increase in January, AMD’s board associates are reportedly planning additional hikes that could take effect between February and March 2026.
This forthcoming increase is primarily attributed to the escalating costs of memory and ongoing supply chain issues. Graphics cards rely heavily on DRAM and VRAM, and the rising expenses for these components are reportedly exerting pressure on GPU manufacturers and their partners. Consequently, some of these increased costs are expected to be transferred down the supply chain to retailers and ultimately to consumers.
AMD and its partners had already raised prices by approximately 5-10% in January. A recent report from Board Channels (via Wccftech) indicates that another round of increases is anticipated soon. While the specific magnitude of the upcoming price hike remains uncertain, the report suggests that the broader aim is to align Radeon GPU prices more closely with the cost levels of equivalent Nvidia models.
This could further reduce the pricing differential between AMD and Nvidia cards, particularly in retail. Nvidia GPUs have been selling above their initial prices for some time, and AMD's partners may be seeking to protect their profit margins instead of competing aggressively on price.
Retailers are reportedly preparing for higher prices.
The report also highlights that retailers and distributors have begun to accumulate inventory ahead of the expected price increases. By securing stock in advance, sellers can avoid the impact of future price hikes. However, this strategy might also diminish the likelihood of short-term discounts and promotional pricing, maintaining elevated GPU prices for an extended period.
For gamers and PC builders, this means that purchasing a Radeon GPU could become more expensive in the near future. If memory chip prices do not stabilize, the upward price trend may persist throughout the year, complicating budget-conscious GPU upgrades.
