Anthropic's Claude will soon assist you in understanding your Apple Watch health information.
The AI assistant will evaluate your wearable metrics and provide clearer health insights.
Anthropic has entered the healthcare AI field with the launch of Claude for Healthcare, a new collection of tools aimed at providers, payers, and patients. Following OpenAI’s ChatGPT Health, Claude for Healthcare seeks to safely integrate AI into medical settings, assisting users in accessing and comprehending their health information more efficiently.
To support this initiative, Anthropic is introducing new integrations that enable users to link their health data to Claude. In the United States, subscribers to the Claude Pro and Max plans can grant the AI assistant secure access to lab results and health records, unlocking functionalities that make this information actionable.
Once linked, Claude can aid users in summarizing their medical history, interpreting test results in straightforward terms, and even formulating questions for medical appointments. Additionally, it can analyze health and fitness data from wearables like the Apple Watch, identifying patterns across metrics to provide users with a clearer overview of their overall health.
Anthropic has already launched new HealthEX and Function connectors in beta, allowing users to give Claude access to their medical data. The Apple Health and Android Health Connect integrations, which enable Claude to retrieve health and fitness metrics from devices and wearables, will be available in beta this week via the Claude app for iOS and Android.
Anthropic assures complete privacy and control for users
The company has stated that privacy and user control are fundamental to these integrations. It highlights that users must explicitly opt in to utilize these features, can manage what information they share, and can adjust or revoke Claude’s permissions at any time. Furthermore, Anthropic has confirmed that user health data will not be utilized to train its AI models.
To help users interpret its insights responsibly, Claude will provide contextual disclaimers, recognize areas of uncertainty, and advise users to consult healthcare professionals for personalized advice.

This camera innovation could soon allow you to take photos with everything in focus
Researchers at Carnegie Mellon have developed a new lens technology enabling cameras to focus on an entire scene simultaneously. Whether using a top-tier camera phone or a dedicated camera, achieving simultaneous focus from the foreground to the background has often been challenging. However, this breakthrough may soon change that. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have created a novel type of camera lens that offers spatially selective focusing, allowing cameras to capture entire scenes simultaneously. A blog post regarding this innovation explains that this technology can capture images "where every detail, near and far, is perfectly sharp—from the flower petal right in front of you to the distant trees on the horizon."
