Xreal's newest affordable AR glasses provide clearer visuals at a lower cost.
Improved resolution, brighter screens, and a $50 price reduction make the Xreal 1S difficult to overlook.
Xreal has returned to CES 2026 with an updated version of its entry-level AR glasses. The new Xreal 1S enhances the previous year’s Xreal One with several significant upgrades and a reduced price of $50.
While the exterior design of the Xreal 1S appears mostly the same, the resolution has been upgraded from 1080p to 1200p, and brightness has increased from 600 to 700 nits. The field of view (FoV) and aspect ratio have also seen improvements, shifting from 50 degrees and 16:9 in last year’s model to 52 degrees and 16:10.
The refresh rate remains at a maximum of 120Hz, but Xreal has strengthened the USB-C port on the Xreal 1S and improved the carrying case for better durability. A new feature called Real 3D has been introduced, which can transform any 2D video content into 3D using the X1 spatial computing chip.
Convert 2D content into 3D in real-time
According to Xreal, this feature "does not require any apps or special software, has no DRM limitations, and no proprietary players." Users can easily activate the feature in the glasses' settings to experience any content in immersive 3D. The Real 3D capability will also be available on the Xreal 1 Pro through an OTA update.
Chi Xu, Co-founder and CEO of Xreal, commented on the new glasses, stating, “Every product in the Xreal One Series has raised expectations for what wearable displays can accomplish. With the Xreal 1S, we are not only reducing the entry cost but also enhancing specifications and performance, as well as refining optics. We are excited to present the Xreal 1S while maintaining Xreal’s leading role in innovation, design, and entertainment in AR.”
The Xreal 1S is available for $449 and can be purchased in the U.S. via the company’s website, Amazon, and Best Buy.

My 10 tech forecasts for 2026
The year 2026 may bring a significant shift for AI, alter our views on wearables, and accelerate advancements in electric vehicles (EVs).
The year 2025 was notable in many ways, but it wasn't an overwhelming ride for the average tech enthusiast. Apple returned to its engineering labs and showcased its innovative capabilities. Simultaneously, its delays in the AI race became increasingly clear compared to Google.
Electric vehicles continued to improve, especially in China, while demand in the West began to diminish. Meta introduced a new line of smart glasses featuring a screen positioned in front of the user’s eye, all while maintaining the classic Ray-Ban aesthetic. Smaller companies like TCL’s RayNeo also made impressive strides.

Apple aims for AR glasses that adjust to you, rather than the other way around
A forward hinge and a frame-fixed optics housing are intended to maintain image consistency while enhancing comfort.
Apple faces a practical challenge with AR glasses: adjusting the fit can shift the image. A new patent from Apple outlines a design for smart glasses that preserves the alignment of essential display components even as the arms move like regular glasses.
The patent describes a rigid electronics housing located near the display frame. This fixed section can accommodate components like projectors, waveguides, speakers, processors, and batteries, ensuring a consistent distance and angle between the projector and the transparent display window. Essentially, the optics remain stable, which should keep the visuals consistent.
