All the events that took place during LG Electronics' CES 2026 "World Premiere."
Digital Trends
We recently attended LG Electronics' CES 2026 press conference, referred to as a ‘world premiere,’ which was primarily focused on unveiling Cloid, LG’s vision of the future in home robotics.
The major consumer highlight was the new Wallpaper TV, which measures only 9mm in thickness. It is advertised as truly wireless, yet there was no discussion regarding power requirements, which likely means it will still need a cable.
However, Cloid took center stage as the main attraction – a prototype robot designed to interact with LG appliances using connectivity and AI. The presentation was smooth and well-managed; at one point, Cloid took several seconds to place a towel into a washing machine, which could have been done much quicker manually, but it seemed to hint at its potential future capabilities.
There were other noteworthy aspects presented at the ‘world premiere,’ especially in the automotive sector, which looked impressive and a bit fantastical. This indicates LG's intent to position itself as a major player in home electronics and to showcase its increasing influence in the robotics field as well.
I'm still puzzled about why Cloid has such large hands, though.

The world’s first gaming monitor with a 1080Hz refresh rate has arrived, but is it actually suitable for you?
Initially, I thought it was a mistake, but the Chinese display manufacturer HKC has announced the launch of the world's first 1,080Hz monitor, shortly after Samsung introduced the Odyssey G6 with a 1,040Hz refresh rate. Clearly, monitor manufacturers are racing to achieve higher refresh rates, which is a beneficial development for consumers like you and me. The HKC ANTGAMER ANT275PQ MAX is not yet available on the market, but the brand plans to unveil it at CES 2026. Nevertheless, HKC has shared some of the monitor's standout features, including the capability to refresh at 1080 times per second at 720p and up to 540 times per second at 2K (1440p) resolution, which is lower than the Odyssey G6's 600Hz.

The major home theater trend of 2026 aims to resolve a frustrating A/V issue
A wire-free year is one of our home theater predictions for 2026.
Although it may not be as glamorous or widely discussed as TVs, the broader ecosystem of home theater technology is arguably where the most compelling advancements are occurring. This year, I am hoping for a solution to the long-standing A/V problem of tangled cables. I have been covering home theater technology for years and have always been annoyed by the hassle of connecting devices, like when I tried to plug a PS2 into a TV that already had a DVD player attached. I’ve used premium soundbars to enhance my movie experiences, streaming devices for accessing streaming services on non-smart TVs, and high-quality projectors for a cinematic viewing experience at home. Yet, each time I set up this tech, I find myself dealing with a mess of cables.

LG’s new Gallery TV may finally provide a worthy alternative to Samsung’s The Frame
The new TV will be presented at CES next year.
While Samsung's The Frame may not have the best picture quality among TVs, it remains one of the most sought-after options for those who prioritize aesthetics. Although several competitors have attempted to create art-inspired TVs over the years, Samsung has long held a dominant position in this niche with minimal serious competition. However, that advantage may finally be challenged. LG now seems prepared to take on Samsung with a new canvas-style TV that will be featured at the upcoming CES 2026 in Las Vegas. This TV is designed to seamlessly integrate into living spaces as an art piece rather than a conventional television, offering a similar aesthetic and features to Samsung's model.
