Here are the upcoming electric vehicles to anticipate in 2026.

      After years of consistent growth, 2025 posed a significant challenge for electric vehicles (EVs). The Trump Administration canceled the federal EV tax credit, scaled back emissions standards, and increased pressure on automakers through tariffs, effectively ending the period of unchecked optimism for EVs. Automakers ceased discussing plans to electrify their U.S. lineups, delayed certain new EVs, and scrapped others, such as the Ram 1500 REV. However, the auto industry is not retreating but rather slowing down. The upcoming year is still expected to feature major EV launches, with certain models remaining likely to succeed and create a substantial impact.

      **BMW iX3**

      The iX3 SUV marks the debut of BMW's next-generation electric vehicles, referred to as “Neue Klasse,” which translates to “new class” in German. It boasts an improved platform and powertrain efficiency, along with new cylindrical battery cells that promise up to 400 miles of range. BMW claims it can achieve up to 230 miles of range in just 10 minutes of DC fast charging at rates of up to 400 kilowatts. A streamlined electrical architecture reduces weight and enhances the integration of chassis control systems and driver assistance features. Inside, it features a panoramic display spanning the dashboard and a modern head-up display that elevates the infotainment experience.

      **Chevrolet Bolt EV**

      Initially launched in 2017, the Bolt EV was a milestone for offering significant range at an accessible price. This popularity led General Motors to bring this hatchback back to life. The Bolt resurfaces as a 2027 model featuring new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology aimed at keeping costs low, with the Bolt LT trim priced at $29,990 at launch. A $28,995 variant will follow later in the model year. Chevy anticipates a range of 255 miles and faster charging capabilities, as it will incorporate a new North American Charging Standard (NACS) port for access to Tesla Supercharger stations.

      **Honda 0 Series SUV**

      Following the use of General Motors hardware, Honda is introducing its dedicated EV platform with three models across different brands. The Acura RSX replaces the short-lived ZDX in Honda's luxury lineup, while the Afeela 1 finally launches the collaboration between Sony and Honda Mobility. However, the most notable model is the SUV based on the prototype presented at CES 2025, scheduled for release later this year. This vehicle, with its Honda pricing and boxy design, aims for a broad audience. Although Honda hasn't disclosed many technical specifications, the platform is expected to offer better space efficiency compared to other EV architectures, thanks to a thinner battery pack.       In contrast to its competitor BMW, Mercedes intends to maintain both gasoline and electric powertrains within the same models. This strategy has succeeded with electric versions of the G-Class and CLA-Class, and now Mercedes is applying it to its top-selling GLC-Class SUV. While it is not a completely new design like the BMW iX3, the GLC with EQ Technology is still projected to offer over 400 miles of range and rapid charging capable of restoring 188 miles in just 10 minutes. The model will feature air suspension and rear-axle steering previously available only on more expensive variants, a massive 39.1-inch display on the dashboard, and a grille that resembles a disco ball.

      **Porsche Cayenne Electric**

      After successfully launching the Taycan and the Macan Electric, Porsche is moving forward with an electric version of its first SUV. The Cayenne Electric offers extensive power, charging technology, and screens, launching in both Cayenne Electric and Cayenne Turbo Electric variants, the latter boasting 1,139 horsepower and a 0 to 60 mph time of approximately 2.4 seconds. It can also fast-charge at up to 400 kW, achieving a 10%-80% charge in about 16 minutes. Additionally, it will be the first mass-produced EV equipped with factory-installed wireless charging, and it introduces a sophisticated new infotainment system with three screens, providing the most screen area of any Porsche to date.

      **Rivian R2**

      Nearly two years after its initial reveal, the Rivian R2 is anticipated to be worth the wait. Aiming for a base price of $45,000, this electric SUV represents the first truly mainstream vehicle from the company known for the R1S SUV and R1T pickup truck. While those models impressed with their off-road capabilities and technology, they were not budget-friendly. The R2 seeks to remedy that with a practical design, estimated at around 300 miles of range and capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in under 3.0 seconds, featuring a size comparable to a Tesla Model Y
