Samsung is introducing AI-generated images in the simple Calendar app.
Calendar receives several enhancements for user convenience
Samsung is incorporating artificial intelligence into your calendar experience. With One UI 8.5, the Calendar app (version 12.7.05.36) is becoming more dynamic and context-aware.
The most notable improvement is the integration of AI-generated visuals into the Calendar widget, highlighting Samsung's belief in the importance of visual context for everyday scheduling. The concept is straightforward yet somewhat unique. Samsung is launching AI-generated background images for the Countdown widget in Calendar, where the visuals are tailored to the title of an upcoming event.
Rather than displaying a basic card counting down the days, the widget can feature an image that represents the nature of the event, making it easier to recognize at a glance. This functionality is included in the update, though initial evaluations by SamMobile suggest it might not yet be fully operational for all users, indicating a gradual rollout by Samsung rather than an immediate release.
How Samsung is enhancing Calendar beyond visuals
The AI visuals are just one aspect of the update. Samsung is also utilizing this refresh to improve Calendar's flexibility and ease of use. A natural language search feature is being introduced, enabling users to locate events by typing in conversational phrases instead of needing to input exact titles.
This means users can search as they typically speak and still retrieve relevant results. The app will also now allow users to hide past schedules, mark reminders as completed directly within Calendar, and attach multiple images to events for additional context.
In conjunction with Calendar, Samsung is also refining its Reminder app with a practical new feature. An early alert setting enables users to choose how far in advance reminders should notify them, which is beneficial for tasks that require additional planning time.
These updates reflect Samsung's focus on integrating AI and enhancing user experience simultaneously, transforming a basic calendar into a more dynamic tool without completely altering its functionality.
These changes are being introduced alongside a broader array of features within One UI 8.5 that are still under development in beta. Samsung has been testing AI photo tools that could enable users to shift objects between images using text instructions, as well as smarter editing tools designed to enhance vacation photos. The company has also launched a One UI 8.5 beta program on the Galaxy S25, allowing users to explore the new AI-enabled software updates.

WhatsApp makes it easier to monitor your synced Apple Watch
A new Peripherals section allows users to view connected Apple Watches and their synchronization status.
WhatsApp introduced a watchOS app earlier this year, enabling users to read, respond to, and react to messages on their Apple Watch. Shortly after, a significant update added support for longer messages, voice notes, call alerts, chat history, and more. Now, the company is preparing a new feature that facilitates iPhone users in monitoring their linked Apple Watch directly from their phones.
According to WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS introduces a new section for connected peripherals in the Linked devices settings. When an Apple Watch is connected, it appears here with details such as device name and connection status. Tapping on the watch reveals a Device Info page with corresponding details and instructions for unpairing the watch.
