Lenovo leaks reveal an impressively designed laptop featuring a concealed display beneath a transparent lid.
Lenovo's newest ThinkPad concept envisions a future where screens are not permanent, information exists in layers, and laptops are perceived more as versatile tools rather than fixed devices.
As CES 2026 approaches, rumors about a new Lenovo ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept laptop have emerged online. This device is unlike traditional high-performance laptops; it may serve as a potential successor to the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable AI PC, likely incorporating a "vertically expanding display."
According to Windows Latest, the Lenovo ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept is designed to convert a standard 13.3-inch laptop into one featuring a 16-inch vertical display. However, the most intriguing aspect of the device may be its transparent lid, which reveals the screen when rolled into the chassis.

This transparent lid can serve as a second, outward-facing display
When not utilizing the upright screen, the extra screen area (stored within the lid) would be visible through the transparent lid, a feature that Lenovo refers to as a “world-facing display.”
Picture working on a conventional Lenovo laptop, but instead of a plastic or metal back cover facing away from you, there's another screen; that’s exactly how the ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept is expected to appear.
The see-through lid is constructed with Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus 2, known for protecting high-end smartphone displays. Its transparent quality allows users to see the flexible OLED display rolled behind the glass.
In addition, the other side of the lid can display information from the main screen, such as the Lenovo AI chatbot, Calendar reminders, and what seems to be Microsoft Teams.

While it's not clearly stated, the ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept may support swipe and touch gestures for the rear-facing display, as well as voice commands that could help users interact with Lenovo AI (including multimodal features) and switch between modes.
There is currently no official pricing for the Lenovo ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept, but the present-generation ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is priced at approximately $3,299.00. If I were to make an educated guess, the new rollable concept will likely have an even higher price tag.

Your next prebuilt PC could arrive without RAM
Paradox Customs has introduced a unique option in its prebuilt PC configurator: the chance to order a system without any RAM. The boutique builder claims this change addresses the substantial memory shortage and soaring DRAM prices currently affecting the market, which have made it challenging for system builders to maintain stock at stable prices. For buyers with spare RAM or those seeking deals elsewhere, this offers a way to circumvent the "RAM tax" that has increased prebuilt prices.

Mozilla’s AI kill switch for Firefox is on the way, but you’ll have to wait until 2026
Mozilla has announced that a true kill switch to disable AI features in Firefox is set to arrive in Q1 2026. In response to a Reddit open letter directed to Mozilla's new CEO, a representative from Mozilla, posting as anthony-firefox, confirmed that a genuine kill switch is forthcoming. This response aims to reassure concerned users on two fronts: Firefox's commitment to serve "almost everyone" (including developers, Linux users, students, parents, and those who stick with default settings) while remaining user-controlled. The letter, authored by someone identifying as a developer and regular user, contends that the issue lies more with execution than with ambition, particularly when feedback goes unaddressed.
The opportunity for upskilling: Why AI PCs are crucial for workforce transformation
The promise and impact of artificial intelligence in the workplace are no longer merely theoretical. AI tools facilitate processes, generate content, and deliver insights at unprecedented speeds. However, some professionals find the potential of AI seemingly out of reach—not due to technological limitations, but because they lack training on how to utilize it effectively.
AI PCs are set to change this landscape. These next-generation devices come with on-device AI optimization, natural language models, and integrated smart workflows within the operating system. They serve as significant productivity enhancers, redefining digital work. Employees will acquire new skills and develop a better understanding of how to collaborate with AI in intuitive, secure, and effective ways.
