A new scene-jump feature identifies the exact moment you describe.
What’s new? Amazon is introducing a new Alexa+ feature on Fire TV that allows you to jump directly to a specific scene in a movie on Prime Video simply by describing it in everyday language. There’s no need to recall the exact time, actor, or dialogue. Just articulate what you remember about the moment, and Alexa+ will quickly take you there.
This feature works on Prime Video movies and shows across tens of thousands of indexed scenes.
It’s available on compatible Fire TV devices and Echo speakers for videos that are part of a Prime subscription or rented.
Why does this matter? This is an AI feature developed on Amazon Bedrock that employs several large language models, including Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude. When you say something like “Jump to the card scene in Love Actually” or “Take me to the boulder chase in Raiders of the Lost Ark,” Alexa+ does the following:
- Determines which movie you’re referring to, even without mentioning the title or actor names.
- Utilizes Prime Video’s X-Ray data, captions, and visual recognition to align your description with what occurs in each scene.
- Jumps to the corresponding timestamp on Prime Video and starts playback from that point.
This is part of Amazon’s larger AI initiative within Prime Video, which also generates brief recap videos for TV shows, allowing you to catch up quickly before starting a new episode.
Why should you care? This scene-finding capability comes along with other viewing functionalities that Alexa+ is adopting. While you’re watching, you can:
- Inquire about other films featuring a particular actor, or obtain details on soundtracks and trivia.
- Receive recommendations from other services like Sling TV, DIRECTV, and Fubo based on your recent viewing.
- Check live sports scores, player statistics, or jump to highlights from recent games.
What’s next? If you tend to be the friend who frequently says, “wait, you have to see this one bit,” this feature is perfect for you.
Whether you enjoy showcasing funny moments, revisiting classics, or diving straight into the best fight scenes, this new feature enhances the personalized and intuitive experience of using Prime Video.
