Highlights from the Computex 2025 awards: The technology that wowed us most.
Although Computex 2025 is still underway, the key announcements have already been made, and this year's event has proven to be quite thrilling. From graphics cards to laptops and monitors, tech enthusiasts have a plethora of options to explore, with many of these new innovations either already available or soon to be released.
Among the exciting new technologies unveiled by companies like AMD, Asus, Acer, and MSI, what stood out to us the most? Below are the new products that earned our Best of Computex 2025 award.
AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT
The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT might be just the solution we need right now. The GPU market has faced challenges recently, with graphics cards being overpriced yet still in high demand. In such a climate, any new GPU release is appreciated, and AMD has responded by launching its mainstream graphics card, the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT.
This GPU features 32 RDNA 4 compute units (CUs), 32 hardware ray tracing (HW RT) accelerators, 64 HW AI accelerators, and can achieve 821 peak AI trillions of operations per second (TOPS). For gamers, the most critical specifications are the VRAM and boost clock speeds, and the RX 9060 XT offers ample amounts of both. It is available in two versions, one with 8GB and the other with 16GB of VRAM, boasting a maximum frequency of 3.13GHz. It will be distributed through partners like Gigabyte and Acer.
While AMD has not yet revealed the memory bus width for the RX 9060 XT, I anticipate it will be either 128-bit or 192-bit for both models. The total board power (TBP) ranges from 150 to 182 watts, making this GPU compatible with mainstream builds.
HP OmniBook 5 Series
The HP OmniBook 5 Series promises exceptional battery life. HP has launched its OmniBook 5 Series laptops, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X and X Plus processors. This series includes a 14-inch and a 16-inch model, both featuring impressive OLED displays. However, HP's most significant selling point is its battery life claims, which truly captured my attention. HP asserts that these new laptops offer “the world’s longest battery life in a consumer AI PC notebook.”
The company guarantees up to 34 hours of battery life with these Snapdragon-powered laptops. Coupled with OLED displays and speedy processors, this series is sure to offer an exciting notebook experience.
In addition to the specifications, I was surprised by the pricing of the HP OmniBook 5 Series. With starting prices of just $799 for the 14-inch model and $849 for the 16-inch version, these laptops are quite affordable given their capabilities, which is encouraging news in today’s market.
MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50
MSI has introduced a QD-OLED monitor featuring AI burn-in protection. The MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 (the monitor names are always a mouthful) is equipped with MSI’s 3rd-generation QD-OLED panel, promising stunning contrasts and accurate colors. This panel delivers 99% DCI-P3 color coverage and holds two essential certifications: VESA ClearMR 21000 and DisplayHDR True Black 500.
As a 27-inch 1440p monitor, it has the potential to challenge some top gaming monitors, especially with its impressive refresh rate of up to 500Hz and a strikingly fast 0.03ms GTG response time.
While OLEDs can suffer from burn-in, MSI has taken precautions with its AI Care Sensor, which automatically turns off the monitor when not in use and adjusts settings in real-time to protect the display over time.
MaxSun Arc B60 Pro
MaxSun’s Arc B60 Pro revives the concept of dual GPUs. Recent reports about a possible 48GB VRAM Arc Battlemage GPU have materialized, though not exactly as predicted. This GPU is not produced by Intel directly but by its collaborator, Maxsun. The company has combined two new Arc Pro B60 GPUs to create an impressive graphics card.
The newly named Intel Arc Pro B60 Dual 48GB Turbo is a dual-chip design that provides 48GB of video memory and double the computing power of the BMG-G21 chip. This uses the same silicon found in the consumer-grade Arc B580 GPU, but as a dual-chip solution, it certainly positions itself as an AI graphics card.
Asus ROG Strix Ace XG248QSG
Asus has launched the fastest gaming monitor in the world. The Asus ROG Strix Ace XG248QSG barely clinches the record for the fastest gaming monitor. This model boasts extraordinary refresh rates, being 100 times quicker than the average human blink. While it may sound excessive, every millisecond is crucial in esports.
