A Belgian AI startup claims it has the capability to automate 80% of tasks in 'expert firms'.
Belgium-based Ravical has raised €7.3 million in pre-seed funding to introduce AI agents to professional services firms in sectors such as tax, legal, accounting, and insurance.
Joris Van Der Gucht, the CEO and co-founder of Ravical, mentioned that these "virtual employees" can handle 80% of the work in these firms. He explained to TNW that Ravical’s agents manage repetitive and time-consuming tasks that hinder experts, such as pulling data from internal systems, verifying the latest regulations, or reviewing lengthy policies.
Despite the agents potentially performing up to 80% of the workload, Van Der Gucht dismissed worries about them replacing human workers. “We don’t anticipate job losses,” he stated. “It’s not about taking over from experts; it’s about freeing them to be more impactful and rethinking their interactions with clients.”
Ravical’s AI agents are intended to offer suggestions rather than operate autonomously. The company emphasized that every AI-generated output is traceable and auditable, essential factors in professional services.
This is not Van Der Gucht’s first endeavor in automating workflows; he previously co-founded Silverfin, which delivers cloud-based accounting automation software and was sold in 2023 for €320 million.
In February, he established Ravical together with AI specialists Ken Bastiaensen and Benjamin Vandermarliere. With the new funding, the startup aims to enhance its algorithms and grow its team.
Enrico Mellis, a partner at Lakestar and the leading investor in this round, expressed his enthusiasm for supporting the company in leveraging its "proven" automation expertise in the flourishing agentic AI market. “Agentic AI is transitioning from a buzzword to a priority at the board level,” Mellis noted.
Ravical has already initiated 10 pilot projects with a range of professional services firms spanning various industries. The company is considering international expansion but did not provide further details on potential locations.
The evolution of AI will be a prominent topic at the TNW Conference, set to be held on June 19-20 in Amsterdam. Tickets for the event are now available, and using the code TNWXMEDIA2025 at checkout offers a 30% discount.
