New OLED concerns
TCL QM7 TCL
@LunaQueeniemon asks: My four-year-old LG CX 55-inch TV failed this past weekend. It keeps rebooting and makes a long beep sound, which makes me hesitant about buying a new OLED TV. I’m torn between the LG B4 48-inch and the TCL QM7 55-inch TV. Which one should I pick?
The first question you should consider is: What matters more to you: size or OLED-level picture quality?
If your setup can accommodate a 55-inch TV and you prefer that larger size, I would recommend the 55-inch TCL QM7 instead of the 48-inch LG B4. The QM7 is visually appealing, and although it may lack the contrast of the B4, meaning you won’t achieve the perfect blacks typical of OLED screens, the QM7 offers significantly better brightness for both SDR and HDR content. Therefore, in terms of HDR performance, it still provides a strong visual impact. If price is a factor, the 55-inch LG B4 has previously dropped to $800. You might want to wait for that deal again, as it could bring the OLED into your preferred range, making it worth the wait for the desired quality and size.
You also mentioned your hesitation about getting a new OLED TV after experiencing issues with your previous CX model. It’s understandable that a bad experience can influence your decision to buy another, but sometimes, problems just happen with electronics.
Generally, LG OLEDs, especially newer and higher-end models, tend to be reliable. Additionally, how you use your TV can also play a role. Therefore, if OLED quality is your top priority, don’t let your past experience deter you from considering the B4.
Best OLED for gaming?

@adiddy911 writes: I desire an OLED, yet there are numerous brands and models. It has become overwhelming, and I no longer know what to choose. Any suggestions? Which one pairs well with the PS5? The C4? The G4? I seek clarity.
We have answers, and it seems you already have a few options in mind.
Fortunately, the LG C4 and G4 are 2024 models, so if you haven’t made a purchase yet, you may be able to get one of them at a good discount this season.
Both models work exceptionally well with the PlayStation 5. Each includes four HDMI 2.1 inputs that support 4K resolution at a 144 Hz refresh rate and VRR. They both feature low input lag, which is beneficial for fast-paced first-person shooters where quick responses matter. Plus, they offer stunning visuals with vibrant colors.
LG G4 OLED Zeke Jones / Digital Trends
I’ve always appreciated LG’s C series OLED TVs, having used several. They provide outstanding picture quality at a more approachable price. If the TV will mainly be for gaming in a smaller area, and 65 inches aren’t necessary—my preferred size for living rooms—smaller models can be a fantastic option. The LG C4 is available in 42 and 48 inches, while the G4 begins at 55 inches, which comes at a significantly higher cost.
To clarify the differences a bit, some users have noted that in Game Optimizer mode, the HDR Brightness of the C4 could be lower than that of the G4. We haven’t tested them side by side, so I can't definitively say how substantial the difference is, but it’s worth mentioning. However, if you only viewed the C4 and didn’t have a side-by-side comparison, would you notice a difference? If your answer is no, I would recommend the C4. On the other hand, if you prefer extra brightness, both for gaming and viewing SDR and HDR content, the G4 may be the better choice.

Kathy writes: I’ve been watching your videos, and at 75, I’m completely lost – or very confused. I suspect this might be our last TV. We want one for watching movies, Netflix, Hulu, Prime, etc. Our seats are 75 inches from the screen. From what you mentioned, it sounds like we need an OLED for great picture quality in a size around 55 or 65 inches. We want to keep it under $1,500, including a soundbar, since our hearing isn't what it used to be—hence the need for subtitles all the time. You seem to favor Sony. Could you please create a video for those of us older
