Astell&Kern (A&K) has revealed that it will unveil its new flagship digital audio player, the A&Ultima SP4000, at High End Munich in Germany on May 15. The iRiver subsidiary also indicated that it would introduce two new in-ear monitors (IEMs) in the third quarter of 2025.
In a press release issued on Thursday, A&K announced that the A&Ultima SP4000 will be the first digital audio player in its series to offer full Android support. This feature will enable users to download any app from the Google Play Store, including Spotify, Soundcloud, and Pandora, while enjoying lossless audio playback during streaming sessions.
Internally, the SP4000 incorporates a new Octa audio circuit architecture that combines the AK4191 processor with a single AK4499EX analog DAC instead of two, aimed at minimizing noise during digital signal processing. It also features a new LDO regulator that cuts noise by as much as 97% compared to earlier models like the A&Ultima SP3000 and SP3000M, and utilizes A&K’s second-generation digital audio remaster (DAR) technology for delivering a more natural and refined sound experience. Additionally, for the first time, the SP4000 is equipped with a 99.9% pure copper Shield Can, meticulously designed to block various forms of noise and electromagnetic interference, thus preserving audio quality.

Regarding the new IEMs, A&K has partnered with 64 Audio to create the 10-driver Universal Fit In-Ear Monitor. This device features an advanced isobaric cone-to-magnet driver setup, enhancing sound fidelity. Additionally, A&K has developed its own IEM, named Luna, which boasts a full-range single transducer unipolar micro planar magnetic driver capable of a frequency response from 20Hz to 30KHz.
Attendees at High End Munich will have the opportunity to test the SP4000 and the new IEMs from May 15 to May 18. Pricing details for these devices have yet to be announced, but A&K plans to provide this information closer to their release date.
