Speed reunion: Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock join forces for a new thriller.

      Hollywood enjoys a good reunion, especially when it involves two major stars like Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.

      According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves and Bullock are set to collaborate again on an untitled romantic thriller in development at Amazon MGM Studios. Noah Oppenheim, who recently co-created Netflix's Zero Day, will write the screenplay. While plot specifics are being kept secret, the concept has been described as "propulsive."

      Reeves and Bullock are well-known for their roles in Speed, Jan de Bont’s 1994 thriller about a bomb on a bus. Reeves portrayed Jack Traven, an LAPD officer on the trail of Howard Payne (Dennis Hopper), a former bomb squad member turned extortionist. Payne has placed a bomb on a city bus that will detonate if its speed drops below 50 miles per hour. Jack manages to board the moving bus and attempts to resolve the crisis. Among the passengers is Annie Porter (Bullock), who ends up taking control of the bus after the driver is shot.

      Released in June 1994, Speed became a massive hit, earning $350 million globally against a budget of less than $40 million. The film catapulted both Reeves and Bullock to superstar status.

      Despite some critical flops, Reeves eventually found success with The Matrix. On the other hand, Bullock established herself as a rom-com legend and A-list star, culminating in winning the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in 2009’s The Blind Side. Three decades after Speed, both Reeves and Bullock remain prominent figures in the industry. Reeves revitalized his career with the John Wick franchise, while Bullock scored several hits, including Bird Box, Unforgivable, and The Lost City.

      Reeves and Bullock reunited more than a decade later in 2006’s The Lake House. Although the romantic fantasy film received mixed reviews, it still grossed over $114 million.
