Yuji Horii, the creator of Chrono Trigger, may have just suggested the possibility of a remake.

At a Comicon panel in Naples, Italy, Yuji Horii, the creator of Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger, may have hinted at a potential Chrono Trigger remake. As shared by Reddit user u/df_tarocco_1, an audience member at the event, "[Horii] accidentally disclosed this information during an interview. The host whispered something to him, and he covered his mouth. The audience erupted with excitement."
However, it's advisable to take this information with a significant grain of caution. There has been no official announcement regarding a Chrono Trigger remake, even with the growing enthusiasm for the series. Other Reddit users are supporting this account, with one noting that Horii has previously made similar slip-ups about other franchises he has been connected to.
As pointed out by user u/TheFishyOne on Reddit, the interviewer mentioned that it would be major news if true, to which the translator replied (after a brief discussion with Horii), "You have heard nothing." At present, the easiest ways to access Chrono Trigger are through Steam or on iOS/Google Play, as the game is not available on the eShop.
SNES Classic
This revelation does not necessarily indicate that a remake is imminent. The slip could refer to a port for current consoles or an addition to Nintendo Switch Online’s classic games collection. Notably, Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition was released in 2022 and introduced a new audience to what is generally regarded as an indirect sequel to Chrono Cross.
Moreover, March 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Chrono Trigger, and Square Enix has shared a mysterious message on X that fueled speculation about a remake. If the beloved RPG is set to return, it might be in the style of a 2D-HD game, similar to Octopath Traveler.
Nonetheless, it’s essential to remain skeptical. The news, if accurate, is certainly exciting, but it wouldn't be the first time a long-anticipated remake has been suggested without following through. That being said, if Horii did indeed hint at a Chrono Trigger remake, it seems likely that an announcement is forthcoming.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is in a playable state, yet still lacks a release date.
Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available for play on September 18 at the Game Worlds exhibit at the Australian National Museum of Screen Culture in Melbourne, part of an exhibit highlighting 30 influential video games. Attendees will have the opportunity to try out the game, although likely only a brief section. This announcement raises hopes that the expected release in 2025 is indeed plausible.
If the game is playable in September, we can infer that it is likely already in a playable condition. Four months isn't enough for developers to implement significant changes, so it’s possible that only a small segment of the game will be showcased at the event.
