During an earnings call with analysts yesterday, Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned that a more advanced version of Siri is currently in active development, though it may take some time before it is available. He reassured callers that Apple is "making progress," but did not specify a timeline for its release. Cook discussed the Apple Intelligence features that have been introduced in iOS 18, including Genmoji, Clean Up, ChatGPT integration, and others.
Cook stated, “Regarding the more personal Siri features we announced, we require additional time to finalize our work on these features to ensure they meet our high-quality standards. We are making headway, and we are eager to provide these features to our customers.”
In the earnings call, Arete Research's Richard Kramer directly asked Tim Cook about the delays concerning Siri. Cook reiterated, “We just need more time to finalize the work so it meets our high-quality standards. There is not much else to it. It’s simply taking longer than we anticipated, but we are progressing and are very excited to release the more personalized Siri features.” However, neither Cook nor CFO Kevan Parekh indicated when these features might be expected.

These features were initially set to launch in April, but comments from Apple employees reveal that numerous issues and glitches remain unresolved. As a temporary measure, Apple partnered with ChatGPT to provide its capabilities on the iPhone and Mac. The company is keen to reach a functional point with these features, especially as it has already faced a lawsuit for allegedly misleading customers with ads heavily focused on advanced AI.
Past statements from Apple suggest that the features will be released sometime this year, but these declarations marked the first updates since the delays were first revealed in March. The personalized Siri features are expected to include contextual commands and the capacity to execute actions within apps and device settings.

The iPhone 17 Pro might debut an unprecedented iPhone color
The iPhone 17 lineup is anticipated to launch in September, reflecting Apple’s usual schedule, barring any tariff impacts. Notably, the iPhone 17 Pro could come in a new color previously unseen on an iPhone: Sky Blue, the same finish found on the new MacBook Air models. A well-known leaker, Majin Bu, shared this information on his website. According to Bu, “sources familiar with the supply chain confirm that multiple iPhone 17 Pro prototypes have been produced in various colors, with Sky Blue currently leading the pack.” Compared to the more subdued colors introduced in Apple's recent devices, a Sky Blue option presents a refreshing and vibrant change.
The iPhone 17 may encounter a supply shortage that complicates purchasing
With less than five months until the iPhone 17 launch, Apple’s initial inventory buildup has faced several challenges. Before releasing a new device—particularly one that is likely to sell out quickly—companies typically ensure that supply is adequate to meet demand. However, a shortage of a crucial component is hindering Apple's ability to produce iPhone 17 devices swiftly.
The component causing the issue is low thermal expansion coefficient (low-CTE) fiberglass cloth, which is essential for managing heat. In the confined space of an iPhone chassis, heat cannot dissipate easily. Without proper management, increased temperatures can lead to components expanding. While this may not necessarily break a phone, it could diminish its lifespan, result in performance issues, and significantly affect battery life.
The iPhone 17 Pro might feature an intriguing accessory that surpasses a case
The Apple iPhone 17 Pro could introduce a unique customization option if an image revealing a new accessory type is authentic. Instead of merely encasing the phone with a case or skin, the iPhone 17 Pro’s distinctive camera module may feature colorful panels to enhance the phone's appearance, making effective use of the extra space surrounding the cameras.
Anyone who has seen early renders of the iPhone 17 Pro’s possible design will notice its prominent rear camera module, which appears flat and accommodates three main cameras on the left, with a flash and another sensor on the right. The space between them remains unused, and that is where the rumored panels are expected to fit.
