The certification listing for the Sony Xperia VII exposes new information, highlighting the comeback of a favored color.
Many smartphone rumors tend to center around Apple and Samsung, particularly with the current discussions regarding the Galaxy S25 Edge and its counterpart, the anticipated iPhone 17 Air. However, they are not the only companies planning to unveil a smartphone by the year's end.
Sony is expected to reveal its next flagship device in the coming months. A leak concerning the Xperia VII – likely the name following the Xperia VI – surfaced in early April, and now the device has been seen on Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) website.
According to MySmartPrice, the NCC listing indicates that the Xperia VII will be available in black, navy green, and purple, retain a design akin to its predecessor, and feature a triple rear camera arranged within a pill-shaped setup.
The purple color is noteworthy since the Xperia IV was offered in that shade, but it hasn’t been available for several years. Fans of the Xperia brand will likely appreciate the reported similar design. Sony has long adhered to its Omnibalance design language, characterized by flat edges and a flat front, with black being a signature aesthetic for the brand.
From the images linked to the NCC listing, the Xperia VII is expected to measure 165mm in height and 74mm in width, making it slightly taller than its predecessor, which measured 162mm. It also seems to include a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top right, a rarity among modern smartphones, and the rear camera features Zeiss branding.
The listing does not provide further specifics, but previous reports indicate that the Xperia VII will have a 6.5-inch display, similar to the Xperia VI, and will operate on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite 8 platform. A launch date has not yet been disclosed, but Sony typically announces its flagship Xperia phones in May, with availability a month later, so we might expect more leaks in the next few weeks.
