Nothing impresses with the budget CMF Phone 2 Pro and its range of earbuds.

Technology company Nothing is gearing up for a busy start to 2025, following the release of the Nothing Phone 3a and Nothing Phone 3a Pro, with a new model in its CMF sub-brand and a new range of earbuds.

      CMF Phone 2 Pro

The CMF Phone 2 Pro follows the successful CMF Phone 1, which offered an affordable price alongside a distinctive design and enjoyable user experience, launching in July 2024. There is some confusion regarding the naming convention, as it seems logical to expect a standard model alongside this Pro variant, yet no such device is currently available. However, it’s possible that a non-Pro version may be introduced later, similar to how Nothing launched the 3a series prior to the Nothing Phone 3.

Like its predecessor, the CMF Phone 2 Pro offers multiple customization options. One notable accessory is the Universal Cover, which allows users to attach different camera lenses for macro or fisheye photography. These small lenses fit over the aluminum frame surrounding the CMF Phone 2 Pro’s camera, which features a 50-megapixel main camera with electronic image stabilization (EIS) and an 8MP wide-angle camera. Additionally, there is a 50MP telephoto camera with EIS for 2x optical zoom capabilities. Other accessories include a kickstand and a lanyard.

Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro processor, the CMF Phone 2 Pro comes with 8GB of RAM and options for either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, along with an option for a MicroSD card that supports up to 2TB of extra storage. The device boasts a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 2392 x 1080 pixel resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 3000 nits, and 1300 nits brightness for outdoor use. The phone is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery and supports 33W wired charging, features an in-display fingerprint sensor, and has an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.

Despite the impressive specifications, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is priced competitively. It costs 219 British pounds (approximately $291) for the 8GB/128GB model, while the 8GB/256GB version is priced at 249 pounds (around $331). Notably, the 8GB/256GB CMF Phone 2 Pro will also be available in the U.S. for $279 through Nothing's developer-focused Beta Program.

      CMF Buds 2a Nothing

In addition to the CMF Phone 2 Pro, Nothing has introduced three new earbud models: the CMF Buds 2, CMF Buds 2 Plus, and CMF Buds 2a. Nothing’s product naming can be a bit intricate, and as of now, the Buds 2 are already featured on their website, along with the Buds Pro 2, resulting in potentially five different earbud options. Let’s explore the specifics of these products.

The Buds 2a are the entry-level option, featuring a 12.4mm bio-fiber driver, 42dB active noise cancellation (ANC), four HD microphones, an IP54 rating, and a battery life of up to eight hours without ANC, extending to 35 hours with the charging case. The subsequent model, the Buds 2, is equipped with an 11mm PMI driver, 48dB hybrid ANC, Ultra Bass and Spatial Audio modes, six HD microphones, an IP55 rating, and offers 13 hours of use without ANC, and up to 55 hours using the case.

      CMF Buds 2 Plus Nothing

Positioned between the Buds 2 and Buds Pro 2, the Buds 2 Plus incorporate a 12mm LCP driver and a 6mm coaxial driver, support Hi-Res LDAC audio, and feature smart adaptive 50dB ANC, as well as Bass Boost and Spatial Audio modes found in the Buds 2. They provide 14 hours of use without ANC and 61 hours with the charging case. All new CMF earbuds come in various colors, including the signature orange shade.

These earbuds are priced quite reasonably, with the Buds 2a at 29 pounds ($38), the Buds 2 at 39 pounds ($51), and the Buds 2 Plus at 49 pounds ($65). All products, including the CMF Phone 2 Pro, will be available for pre-order starting April 28 through Nothing’s online store, with a release date set for May 6.
