Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has a logo and may have a new name.
David Krumholtz, portraying Supergirl’s father, Zor-El, shared a photo of his set chair on Instagram. Krumholtz has recently finished filming his scenes for the DC Universe movie.
He expressed, “Wrapped! It was an incredible experience working on #Supergirl with @millyalcock and @emily_beecham. Thanks to Craig Gillespie, Peter Safran & @jamesgunn, and an absolutely fantastic London-based cast & crew!”
The logo features only Supergirl, excluding Woman of Tomorrow.
This wouldn’t be the first instance of a DC movie shortening its title. James Gunn’s new superhero film, Superman, was initially announced as Superman: Legacy. When production commenced in February 2024, Gunn clarified the reason for dropping Legacy from the title.
“When I completed the first draft of the script, I titled the film Superman: Legacy,” Gunn posted on Instagram alongside a picture of Superman’s suit. “By the time I finalized the draft, it was evident that the title was simply Superman. We’re bringing it to you in July 2025.”
Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, who is Superman’s cousin and possesses similar powers. The story follows the 21-year-old Kara Zor-El on her adventures throughout the galaxy with Krypto the Superdog. Kara encounters a young girl named Ruthye and embarks on a quest for vengeance.
The cast of Supergirl includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze. Jason Momoa will make his first appearance as Lobo, the ruthless alien mercenary and bounty hunter.
Alcock will also have a brief appearance in Superman, which is set to release in theaters on July 11. Superman marks the beginning of the film division of Gunn’s new DC Universe alongside Peter Safran. Superman will be part of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
Directed by Craig Gillespie and penned by Ana Nogueira, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to hit theaters on June 26.
