3 new PlayStation Plus games to enjoy this weekend (April 18-20)

      WB Games

April has been relatively quiet regarding new and upcoming PS5 titles. However, May promises an exciting lineup, featuring creepy games like The Midnight Walk and action-packed ones like Doom: The Dark Ages. During slower periods like this, PlayStation Plus steps in to help you fill your gaming calendar. The latter half of the month offered a slightly reduced selection of games for the Extra and Premium tiers, but the quality and variety are more than sufficient. As always, we are eager to provide a diverse array of options for you to enjoy this weekend, and we believe this trio of new PlayStation Plus games has something for everyone.

      Hogwarts Legacy

At the forefront of this list is Hogwarts Legacy, the most extensive and ambitious Harry Potter game to date. Since its release, fans of the series have praised the game for how effectively it immerses players in the realm of magic. Set long before the storyline of the books, players can create their own character to attend the iconic Hogwarts. The entire castle and its surrounding area are yours to explore, filled with numerous quests, challenges, puzzles, and hidden surprises that will thrill fans. This is your official acceptance to Hogwarts.

Hogwarts Legacy is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC.

Lost Records: Bloom and Rage – Tape 2

The first part of this two-part adventure was free in February, so consider this a nudge to check out the grand finale of this nostalgic mystery. If you held off on playing because you wanted to wait for the full release, now you can enjoy the complete narrative. The first tape ended with significant mysteries unresolved, so there's no reason to leave yourself hanging when the second part is now also accessible through your subscription. Anticipate increased tension, drama, and revelations, culminating in multiple possible endings based on your choices.

Lost Records: Bloom and Rage – Tape 2 is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

      War of the Monsters

Though the Premium selection is somewhat limited this month, the addition of War of the Monsters makes it worthwhile. This hidden gem from the PS2 era will please any fan of Godzilla or Kaiju culture. In this arena fighter, you can control various giant monsters (or robots) and battle in different environments. While it may not be overly complex, it thrives on the sheer excitement of two colossal creatures clashing. The game has been upgraded to full HD and includes trophy support for added engagement.

War of the Monsters is currently available on PS4 and PS5.

3 PlayStation Plus games to enjoy this weekend (February 14-16)

Earlier this week, PlayStation surprised us with a new State of Play showcase that highlighted numerous upcoming PS5 titles to anticipate, including Metal Gear Solid: Delta and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. However, many of these games are still some time away, and even longer if you plan to grab them through PlayStation Plus. This month features an abundance of new games to try, but if you're short on time or funds to acquire them all, PlayStation Plus has your back. We've handpicked some hidden gems from the catalog that you may have overlooked. Whether you're in the mood for an engaging RPG, an entertaining party game, or a competitive multiplayer experience, these are the titles to check out this weekend.

      The Outer Worlds

The Outer Worlds - Come to Halcyon Trailer | PS4

It’s quite possible that Avowed will eventually arrive on PS5, but there's currently no official confirmation on that. What is available on PlayStation Plus is Obsidian's last major RPG, The Outer Worlds. Often likened to a space-based Fallout, this RPG offers a more contained experience where you navigate several hub areas rather than a vast open world. The game cleverly critiques corporations, capitalism, and class dynamics, delivering more hits than misses. You have numerous build options, and the companions are among the best we've encountered. While it's not an extensive game, be aware that it is leaving the service this month, so if you wish to complete it, you'll need to dive in soon. Even if you don't finish it, it’s still worth purchasing in preparation for The Outer Worlds 2.

Everything announced at PlayStation State of Play February 2025

After a peculiar but ultimately productive 2024, Sony laid out its 2025 plans during a State of Play — at least partially. Instead of focusing on major first-party releases like Ghost of Yotei and Marvel's Wolverine, the 45-minute showcase almost exclusively highlighted upcoming third-party games. We received release dates for Borderlands 4 and Metal Gear Solid Delta, providing insight into the latter half of 2025. A surprise release was also featured: Warriors: Abyss, a new Musou
