If you've been eager to preorder the Nintendo Switch 2, there's good news: the wait is finally over, and you can place your preorder starting April 24. Despite concerns regarding tariffs, the pricing has not changed. The Nintendo Switch 2 will be priced at $450 for just the console or $500 for the Mario Kart World bundle; however, accessory prices have been modified "due to changes in market conditions." Nintendo notes that "other price adjustments on any Nintendo product may occur in the future."
In its announcement, Nintendo states, “We apologize for the retail preorder delay and hope this alleviates some of the uncertainty our customers may be feeling. We appreciate our customers' patience and share their excitement in looking forward to the Nintendo Switch 2 starting June 5, 2025.”
Unfortunately, several additional accessories, including the Pro Controller, Joy-Cons, and other add-ons, have increased in price. Nintendo provided a list of suggested prices, but as seen in Europe, there’s no guarantee that retailers will adhere to this pricing structure.
Nintendo Switch 2 – $449.99
Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle – $499.99
Mario Kart World – $79.99
Donkey Kong Bananza – $69.99
Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller – $84.99
Joy-Con 2 Pair – $94.99
Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip – $39.99
Joy-Con 2 Strap – $13.99

Nintendo Switch 2 Camera – $54.99
Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set – $119.99
Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector – $39.99
Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case – $84.99
Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter – $34.99
Samsung microSD Express Card – 256GB for Nintendo Switch™ 2 – $59.99
Most accessories have increased by about $5, while the dock saw a $10 hike. Thankfully, this is a relatively small increase, although further adjustments could occur in the future.

One week later, this is what continues to surprise me most about Nintendo Switch 2
Last week, Nintendo shared a wealth of details about the Nintendo Switch 2. We learned about its games, the mysterious C-button, and received more information on the functionality of its mouse controllers. The presentation was filled with surprises, from the unexpected Kirby Air Riders announcement to the confirmation that GameCube games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online. I experienced my own surprises when I got hands-on with the Switch 2 and found myself captivated by its new control scheme.
I've had ample time to digest the information since then and have even reconsidered some criticisms I initially had, like regarding GameChat. Upon reflection, what still surprises me the most is just how next-gen the system genuinely feels.
Switch 2 woes reach across the border as Nintendo delays preorders in Canada
Issues with the Nintendo Switch 2 have spread to our neighbors in Canada. Pre-orders for the much-anticipated hybrid console have been postponed just before they were set to begin. Jonathan Ore, a senior writer for CBC Radio Online, shared a statement from Nintendo of Canada on Bluesky on Tuesday, indicating that pre-orders for the Switch 2 have been delayed in Canada to "align with the timing of pre-orders" in the United States. The statement reads as follows:
Switch 2 vs. Switch Lite: is the upgrade worth the hefty price tag?
Each generation of video game consoles is extending longer, with the Switch lasting 8 years before we received official information about the Switch 2. Over that period, we saw a few different versions of the original Switch with some notable differences. But how do they compare to the Switch 2? We can analyze the Switch 2 versus the original Switch, but what about how it stacks up against the Switch OLED and Switch Lite? Given that this new console is priced significantly higher than the current systems and upcoming Switch 2 games will also see price increases, is it wise to keep your Switch Lite, or is investing in the Switch 2 worthwhile?
For those who prefer PC gaming in handheld mode, we've also compared the Switch 2 with the Steam Deck to determine which reigns supreme in the handheld market.
