NYT Strands today: clues, spangram, and solutions for Thursday, April 17.

Strands is a new daily puzzle introduced by the New York Times. This challenging variation of the traditional word search requires sharp observation skills to solve. Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can sometimes be quite tough. There’s no need to feel embarrassed about seeking help occasionally. If you find yourself stuck and need the answers for today’s Strands puzzle, look at the solved puzzle provided below.

      How to play Strands

Each Strands puzzle begins with the objective of locating the “theme words” embedded within the letter grid. You can drag or tap letters to create words, and a double-tap on the final letter will confirm your choice. Correct words will be highlighted in blue and will become unavailable for selection.

If you discover a word that isn’t a theme word, it can still be beneficial! For every three non-theme words of at least four letters that you identify, you’ll receive a hint — one of the letters from a theme word will be revealed, which you’ll then need to unscramble.

Every letter in the grid contributes to forming the theme words, and there’s no letter overlap. Each letter is used exactly once.

Each puzzle includes one “spangram,” a unique theme word or words that encapsulate the puzzle's theme and span across two opposite edges of the board. When you find the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.

The aim is to solve the puzzle swiftly while minimizing the use of hints.

Once a PlayStation exclusive, Death Stranding is arriving on Game Pass next week.

505 Games has announced that Death Stranding will be available on PC Game Pass starting August 23. The publisher has confirmed that this version will be the original game from 2019 and not the Director's Cut.

The game will feature ultrawide support, a photo mode, and high framerates. 505 Games also noted that it will include crossover content, likely referring to collaborations with Half Life and Cyberpunk 2077. Additionally, players can expect some unlockable items.

Death Stranding is receiving a PlayStation 5 Director’s Cut.

The Director’s Cut of Death Stranding is set to launch on PlayStation 5, with the announcement made during Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live event.

Game director Hideo Kojima revealed this news, although details about what the Director's Cut will contain remain unclear. A brief trailer was shown, making playful references to Metal Gear Solid, another game by Kojima.

These are the Nintendo Switch 2 sequels I’m eager to see.

While waiting for the Nintendo Switch 2, I’ve been reminiscing about the extensive game library of its predecessor. The Switch boasts one of the strongest game collections among consoles, largely due to an array of top-tier exclusives from Nintendo’s most popular franchises. While I’m excited to see new Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing titles for the Switch 2, I’ve also been thinking about what smaller games could thrive on a console that introduces a completely new control scheme.

As I compiled a dream list of games that could capitalize on the Switch 2’s new features, I realized that it wasn’t necessarily the major titles I was most enthusiastic about. Instead, I began envisioning sequels to some of the Switch’s lesser-known releases. These titles seem to offer the most potential for utilizing mouse controls or camera support. I mention this to prepare you for a list of Switch games I’d like to see come back for a sequel on Switch 2, which might initially confuse you. It’s not that I don’t want a Super Mario Odyssey 2 or similar major releases; I just see numerous opportunities for Nintendo’s B-tier games to reach their maximum potential here.
