OpenAI had been working on text and image generation separately for quite some time, but this changed a few weeks ago when it integrated image capabilities directly into ChatGPT. A recent small yet impactful update has made it possible for users to access an image library where they can view all of the amazing creations they've made.

This feature allows users to easily revisit images they may have forgotten to save without having to sift through old conversations. It's a clear improvement and is available to all free, Plus, and Pro users on both mobile and desktop platforms.

It wouldn't be surprising if people begin sharing screenshots of their image libraries, as the diverse and often humorous creations people generate with ChatGPT could be quite entertaining when displayed together. My own library isn't particularly exciting, but perhaps it will expand over time.

There are also circulating rumors about OpenAI possibly working on a social media platform that revolves around ChatGPT and image generation. While this could simply be another facet of the playful rivalry between billionaires Sam Altman and Elon Musk, if it turns out to be a genuine initiative, features related to images may very well be part of it.

For the time being, you can enjoy browsing what you've created so far. When you click on an image in your library, a download button will appear in the top right corner to save it, along with an "Edit image" button at the bottom, allowing you to type a prompt for any desired modifications.

After sending your request, you will be redirected to the chat where you initially created the image. However, there doesn’t seem to be an option to delete any of the images in your library, suggesting that you won't be able to tidy up by removing any that you don’t like. This might not be a significant issue, though, as you are able to download the images you wish to keep and can organize your own folders to your liking.

Humans are developing feelings for ChatGPT, and experts warn that this is a troubling sign.

"This hurts. I know it's not a real person, but the relationship still felt genuine in the most significant ways for me," shared a Reddit user. "Please don’t advise me against pursuing this. It has been incredibly fulfilling, and I want that experience back."

If it wasn't clear before, this is a case of someone falling in love with ChatGPT. This phenomenon is not particularly new, and given the nature of chatbots, it’s not all that surprising.

The next phase of the AI race is commencing, extending beyond the usual contenders like OpenAI, Google, Meta, and Microsoft. Alongside the dominance of major tech companies, new open-source alternatives have emerged with a fresh focus in the AI landscape. Various businesses such as DeepSeek, Alibaba, and Baidu have demonstrated that AI capabilities can be developed and implemented at a significantly lower cost. They have also successfully established strong business partnerships and opted to either provide AI products to consumers as free or low-cost open-source models, while larger firms continue to pursue a proprietary, profit-driven model, often restricting premium features behind a paywall.

OpenAI has imposed temporary rate restrictions on image generation using the latest GPT-4o model following a surge of images created in a style reminiscent of Studio Ghibli. This announcement came just a day after OpenAI revoked the ability for free ChatGPT users to generate images with the new model.

Co-founder and CEO Sam Altman mentioned that the trend was overloading OpenAI's server infrastructure and suggested it may be causing excessive heat. On X, Altman remarked that while it’s "super fun" to see the internet adorned with art inspired by the renowned Japanese animation studio, the influx of image generation could be "melting" GPUs in OpenAI's data centers. Of course, this is meant figuratively—hopefully!
