Citadel is bidding farewell to two international spinoffs on Prime Video.

Amazon has announced that Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana will not have second seasons. Instead, their storylines will be incorporated into the second season of the main series, Citadel.

"Having successfully traversed India and Italy, the narratives from both Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana will be integrated into the upcoming second season of the flagship series, Citadel,” stated Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, via Deadline. “Although these successful and well-received international installments will not continue as standalone series, the second season of Citadel will be our most thrilling yet.

“With high-stakes storytelling, new additions to our incredible cast, and bold cinematic ambition, this new season will further explore the emotional arcs of Nadia, Mason, and Orlick as they contend with the relentless adversary that is Manticore. We are eager to share what’s next when Citadel Season 2 debuts globally in the second quarter of 2026.”

Citadel is one of Prime Video's largest risks ever. Produced by the Russo Brothers, this espionage action series is among the most costly shows made, with an estimated budget of $300 million for its six-episode first season.

Amazon had aimed to grow the Citadel universe with international spinoffs in various languages. Honey Bunny was an Indian Hindi-language series, while Diana was produced in Italian. Despite receiving positive reviews and decent viewership in their respective nations, Honey Bunny and Diana struggled to achieve global success. Other proposed spinoffs, including one in Mexico, are now on hold.

Amazon will now concentrate on completing Citadel season 2, which is currently in post-production. Set one month after season 1, Citadel season 2 follows the spies of the Citadel agency as they are pursued by Manticore agents. The spies must emerge from hiding to prevent Manticore’s Brazilian billionaire Paulo Braga from deploying devastating technology created by Citadel’s Bernard Orlick into the world.

Citadel features Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra, Stanley Tucci, and Lesley Manville.

Season 1 premiered in April 2023 and is currently available for streaming on Prime Video. Season 2 will premiere in spring 2026.
