The April 2025 security update for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series offers more enhancements than originally anticipated. SamMobile reports that the monthly update not only addresses vulnerabilities and security flaws but also reinstates a feature and enhances others.
Overall, the new update for the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra includes a security patch along with improvements in camera performance, charging, and overall software stability.
Highlighted features of this update include:
- Media playback enhancements: The update finally introduces the media playback widget to the notification shade and Now Bar pill in the status bar, a feature that was present in older devices with One UI 7 but had been absent from the S25 series since its release.
- Animation improvements: The update brings smoother charging animations and refinements to the Now Bar animation for the media player in the status bar.
- Bug fixes: The update also resolves issues related to the Location and Mobile Data toggles in the Quick Panel.
The update package size varies between 600-780MB, depending on the model, and it is currently being rolled out, with some regions already having access.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series was announced and launched earlier this year. All models are equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset globally and come with 12GB of RAM (16GB options available for the Ultra model in select markets). The phones debuted with Android 15 and One UI 7, and Samsung has committed to providing seven years of OS and security updates.
The series features advanced AI capabilities branded as “Galaxy AI,” which include multimodal agents that can interpret text, speech, images, and videos for more natural interactions, an upgraded Google Circle to Search function, context-aware suggestions, and additional features.
A fourth device in the lineup, the Galaxy S25 Edge, is anticipated to launch next month, having been teased by Samsung earlier this year.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge approaches launch despite new challenges
The journey of Samsung’s ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge has encountered several intriguing twists, not all of which are favorable. We’ll start with the positive news. It has been reported that management challenges at the company may have postponed the phone’s launch to the May-June timeframe. Now, it appears Samsung has settled on a release date, which is sooner than expected. A reliable source (via SamMobile) has stated that the phone will be officially announced on May 13. Earlier, there had been strong speculation it would debut in mid-April, prior to the corporate changes.
Samsung enhances the Galaxy A56 to support new Galaxy Tab S10 FE tablets
Samsung has unveiled two new tablets, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Galaxy Tab S10 FE+, which combine the power and AI features found in its Galaxy A56 smartphone with the larger screen options of its Galaxy Tab S10 series. Unsure about what Samsung means by FE? The term originated unusually but is now used for affordable devices that offer good value, such as the Galaxy S24 FE.
Regarding the two new Tab S10 FE models, the primary technical differences include the Galaxy Tab S10 FE featuring a 10.9-inch, 90Hz LCD display and an 8,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ comes with a 13.1-inch, 90Hz LCD screen and a 10,090mAh battery. This makes the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ larger and heavier, weighing 664 grams compared to 497 grams, although both models are only 6mm thick.
You may experience delays in the launch of Samsung’s sleek Galaxy S25 Edge
It appears that ongoing management transitions at Samsung will result in the delayed market release of its ambitious super-slim smartphone. The Galaxy S25 Edge was anticipated to debut in mid-April, but those plans seem to have been pushed back by a few weeks. According to a report from Korea’s ET News, the company has rescheduled the launch event for sometime between May and June. “It has been confirmed that this information was also communicated to the three mobile carriers that distribute the Galaxy S25 Edge,” stated the outlet.
