There are individuals who wish to replace a flat or depleted battery in their smartphone with a fresh, fully charged one. Samsung is aware of this, and it’s a highlighted feature of its new Galaxy XCover7 Pro rugged smartphone. However, have you considered doing something similar with your tablet? Impressively, Samsung is also providing this feature in its new rugged Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro tablet.

The Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro is equipped with a substantial 10,100mAh battery, and Samsung offers replacement batteries so you can swap them out conveniently. It includes a unique Dual Hot-Swap functionality, allowing you to change batteries without powering down the tablet. Additionally, it can function without a battery, operating directly from a mains power supply. If you’re curious about the need for such capabilities, you might not be, as the Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro and Galaxy XCover7 Pro are designed with businesses in mind, particularly for field use where uninterrupted operation may be crucial.

These rugged devices come with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, meet the MIL-STD-810H military durability standards, and feature Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on their displays. We particularly appreciate the extra-durable S Pen stylus that accompanies the Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro, which boasts an IP68 rating for wet conditions to match its robust design.

As for the remaining specifications, the Galaxy XCover7 Pro features a 6.6-inch, 120Hz LCD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, and 6GB of RAM, along with a microSD card slot that allows for expanding the 128GB internal storage by up to 2TB. It includes a 50-megapixel primary camera and an 8MP wide-angle camera on the back, a 13MP front camera, and a 4,350mAh replaceable battery. The device operates on Android 15, incorporates Samsung’s Knox security, and is compatible with Samsung’s DeX desktop system.

The Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro, on the other hand, features a 10.1-inch, 120Hz LCD display and shares the same processor as the smartphone, but it offers configurations with either 6GB/128GB or 8GB/256GB of RAM and storage. The tablet is equipped with a 12MP main camera on the rear and an 8MP front camera, along with stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also supports 5G connectivity, runs on Android 15, includes Samsung Knox, and is compatible with DeX.

Both rugged Samsung devices are set to be available from April 2025, although prices have yet to be disclosed. There’s also a possibility that Samsung may offer the Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro to general consumers in addition to corporate clients in the future.
