Now that the first season has concluded, there’s growing evidence that The Pitt has been a genuine success for Max. According to Variety, the hospital drama averaged 10 million viewers over the first 14 episodes of its initial season, as reported by Warner Bros. Discovery. This figure reflects the average number of viewers who watched the show at its premiere and in the subsequent days, rather than just on the release day of each episode.
WBD also announced that the premiere episode has reached 16.2 million viewers, with each episode surpassing the previous one in night-of viewership for 13 consecutive weeks. It’s unusual for WBD to release such viewership statistics, as they typically only disclose numbers for shows that also air on HBO. The release of these figures is likely due to the remarkable success of The Pitt.
Set in a Pittsburgh emergency room and essentially unfolding in real-time over the course of a single shift, the show gradually gained momentum and, as indicated by the viewership data, ultimately became a must-watch program.
The show has already received a renewal for a second season, with plans for it to resemble traditional network television more closely. This includes longer seasons, and the second season is set to premiere just a year after the first.
In addition to resonating with audiences, The Pitt has also garnered significant critical praise, and both fans and critics are eagerly looking forward to the show’s second season.
