Proton Mail introduces offline email capabilities for Android users.
**Proton**
Proton Mail has made managing your inbox much more convenient while on the move, particularly when you lack internet access. The encrypted email service has launched an upgraded Android app that now includes comprehensive offline support, allowing you to read, draft, and search for emails on Android without needing an active connection.
Previously, Proton Mail users on Android were confined to an online-only experience, meaning they couldn't access old messages unless connected, a feature that iOS users have enjoyed for a while. The latest update addresses this by storing emails directly on your device and syncing any updates when you reconnect. This allows you to reply to emails, browse past conversations, and write drafts without disruption.
While offline access has been offered by other secure email platforms for some time, Proton’s version is specifically designed to secure your data even when saved locally. The app continues to utilize zero-access encryption, ensuring that Proton cannot read your emails, even on your device.
The new app version also features a more streamlined interface and improved overall performance. The update is currently being rolled out via the Play Store, so not all users will receive it immediately. However, once it is available on your device, you'll be able to check your inbox in airplane mode, compose replies during your commute, or read emails while camping in an area with no signal.
So if you're planning a summer road trip off the grid, rest assured that with Proton Mail, your emails remain secure and accessible locally.
