NYT Strands for today: clues, spangram, and solutions for Tuesday, April 8.
Strands is a fresh daily puzzle from the New York Times. It's a more challenging version of the traditional word search that requires a sharp eye to complete. Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can be tricky on certain days. There's no embarrassment in asking for help occasionally. If you're having trouble with today’s Strands puzzle and need the answers, refer to the solved puzzle provided below.
How to Play Strands
Every Strands puzzle begins with the aim of finding the "theme words" hidden within the letter grid. You can manipulate the letters by dragging or tapping to create words; double-tap the last letter to confirm. When you identify a correct word, it will be highlighted in blue and will no longer be selectable.
If you come across a word that is not a theme word, it still benefits you! For every three non-theme words you locate that are at least four letters long, you’ll receive a hint—one of the letters from a theme word will be revealed for you to unscramble.
Every letter in the grid is used to form the theme words without any overlap; each letter will only appear once.
Each puzzle also includes one "spangram," a unique theme word (or words) that reflects the puzzle's theme and connects two opposite sides of the board. When you find the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.
The objective is to finish the puzzle quickly while minimizing the use of hints.
