NYT Connections: clues and solutions for Sunday, April 6
Connections is regarded as one of the top puzzle games by the New York Times. In this game, you are tasked with classifying a set of 16 words into four hidden (for now) categories by understanding the relationships between them. The puzzle resets every midnight, with each new puzzle offering varying levels of difficulty. Similar to Wordle, you can track your winning streak and compare your scores with friends.
Some days are more challenging than others, akin to other popular NYT Games like The Mini and Strands. If you're struggling with today's puzzle, take a look at our tips and tricks for Connections for helpful strategies, or check out the hints provided below. If you're still having difficulty, we'll reveal today's answers at the end.

You can play Connections either on the New York Times website or through the NYT Games app available on iOS and Android. In Connections, a grid with 16 words is presented to you, and your goal is to arrange these words into four sets of four by identifying the connections that unite them. These sets can be based on themes such as video game franchise titles, sequels in book series, shades of red, names of chain restaurants, and more.
You may encounter words that seem to fit multiple categories, but there is only one absolutely correct answer. The grid can be shuffled and rearranged to help you better identify potential connections.
Each group is color-coded: the yellow group is the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple groups. Choose four words and press Submit. If your selection is correct, those four words will be removed from the grid, and the theme connecting them will be revealed. An incorrect guess counts as a mistake, and you can make only four mistakes before the game concludes.

Who edits the NYT Connections game?
Wyna Liu, who has been editing puzzles for The New York Times since 2020, oversees Connections each day. In an article detailing her process, Liu mentioned, “A few months ago, a new assignment came to me: to create the game boards for Connections, a category matching game that had recently been approved and needed an editor.” Most of my experience has been with crosswords, and I was excited for the opportunity to explore something different. I’ve enjoyed learning how puzzle editing unfolds once a game is approved and understanding how our team fits into a broader ecosystem.”
On the one-year anniversary of Connections’ launch earlier this year, Liu shared this TikTok about some of her favorite puzzles so far:
