Leading Apple analyst indicates that the iPhone Mini is essentially no longer available.
Apple
Earlier this year, Apple introduced the iPhone 16E and ended the iPhone SE series. For those hoping for the return of the iPhone Mini, that seems unlikely as well. In a Q&A with Mark Gurman, the analyst stated that Apple has no plans to bring back the compact version of its iconic lineup anytime soon.
This isn’t exactly shocking. Apple effectively discontinued the iPhone Mini series in 2023 with the launch of the iPhone 14 Plus, leaving the iPhone 13 Mini as the last model in that category. Although the iPhone 13 Mini features a 5.4-inch display, which wouldn’t necessarily suit today’s market of larger screens, it was a significant option for users who favored smaller phones.
The existing Apple iPhone lineup shows a noticeable absence of smaller options. Currently, there isn’t a model available with a screen size under six inches; the iPhone 16e comes close at 6.1 inches, but doesn’t quite meet the “compact” label.
Naturally, the main reason for the discontinuation of the iPhone Mini is straightforward: it didn’t sell well enough for Apple to keep manufacturing it. Several independent research firms have confirmed that its sales fell short in comparison to larger models. Apple has an opportunity to address this market gap with its anticipated iPhone Fold, although that device likely won’t be launched until late 2026 or early 2027.
The rise of mobile gaming—and Apple’s clear emphasis on it through services like Apple Arcade—indicates that larger screens are generally favored. It’s unfortunate that there doesn’t appear to be a demand in the market for a smaller iPhone model, but if there were sufficient interest, Apple would probably create something to cater to that customer segment. For now, fans must either settle for the smallest available iPhone or choose another brand that still offers compact devices.

iPhone 17 may finally improve Apple’s reluctance to enhance display upgrades
Social media is currently buzzing with various rumors and concept designs allegedly showcasing the upcoming iPhone 17 series. A few credible insiders have also supported the claims of a new design. However, there’s another aspect that will significantly impact users in their daily experiences.
According to Bloomberg, the standard iPhone 17 model might finally incorporate a high refresh rate, also known as ProMotion display. The report states, "The device is likely to receive minor upgrades to its rear camera, as well as a ProMotion display that enables smoother scrolling and animations."
For those familiar with the competing Android market, high refresh rate screens have become standard. Even budget phones priced at around $200 offer 90Hz or 120Hz displays. In contrast, within the Apple ecosystem, one has to spend at least a thousand dollars to enjoy that feature on an iPhone or iPad.

Forget the iPhone 17, new leak suggests waiting for the iPhone 18
Even though the iPhone 17 isn't available yet, we’re already hearing news about the next model, and indications suggest that the iPhone 18 might be worth the wait.
Reports indicate that Apple is working on the manufacturing process for its A20 chip, which, according to GF Securities' analyst Jeff Pu, will be produced on the groundbreaking 2nm scale known as N2.
Never mind a foldable iPhone, what about a foldable Apple Watch?
Recently, there have been several rumors surrounding a foldable iPhone, and there have even been suggestions about a foldable iPad with a screen size of 18.8 inches, making it a couple of inches larger than the largest MacBook.
However, while Apple has yet to enter the foldable market, it’s possible that there may not only be a foldable iPhone or iPad in the works. A recent patent, uncovered by Apple Insider, has suggested that a foldable Apple Watch could also be in the pipeline for the future. We know, it may sound quite far-fetched.
