As the anticipated release of the iPhone 17 approaches (projected for September 2025), numerous leaks have surfaced, including a collection of dummy units that provide a close look at the entire series, particularly the iPhone 17 Air. This device has stirred up considerable speculation and rumors, and its profile reveals a phone that is even slimmer than expected.
The leaks are attributed to Sonny Dickson, a prominent tipster, who shared the images on X. It's crucial to note that these units are merely pieces of metal, void of any electronics; therefore, we cannot determine specifications based solely on their design. However, they do offer a clear view of the phone's profile and an understanding of the arrangement of various components.
The dimensions of each unit are inscribed on the back, providing insight into their size.
The iPhone 17 measures 148.64mm in length, 77.59mm in height, and 8.75mm in thickness.
The iPhone 17 Pro is 149.63mm long, 71.44mm tall, and 8.75mm thick.
The iPhone 17 Air is perhaps the most surprising, with rumors suggesting it could be as thin as 5.5mm, but the design details on the back are somewhat unclear. After adjusting for color, it appears the device is 156.18mm long, 74.71mm tall, and 5.65mm thick — slightly thicker than anticipated.
Lastly, the iPhone 17 Pro Max — which recent rumors indicate might be referred to as the iPhone 17 Ultra — measures 149.62mm in length, 71.46mm in height, and 7.96mm in thickness.
Of course, these initial units may not represent the final design, as changes are still possible, and Apple could potentially reduce the thickness further. However, based on the specifications of the dummy units (assuming they are accurate and not errors), it seems the iPhone 17 Air might not be as thick as initially believed.

Google Pixel 10 leak signals a challenge for Apple to elevate its iPhone offerings.
Google’s Pixel phones are known for their exceptional camera performance. In 2025, Google is expected to raise the bar with the Pixel 10, potentially surpassing standard iPhones. According to a recent leak, the upcoming baseline flagship is set to enhance its zoom capture capabilities significantly.
Android Headlines, in partnership with @OnLeaks, has released purported product renders of the Pixel 10, revealing a triple-lens camera setup on the back, featuring a dedicated telephoto zoom camera.
Are you curious about the thickness of the rumored Apple iPhone 17 Air? An intriguing image has been shared, showcasing Apple’s upcoming device alongside the iPhone 16 Pro Max, highlighting a significant difference. For reference, the 16 Pro Max measures 8.25mm thick, the same as the standard iPhone 16 Pro. The photo suggests that the iPhone 17 Air is approximately half that thickness.
These images were shared by renowned mobile news leaker Majin Bu on X, but no additional sources are provided. They appear to be stills from a video, indicating that more examples may be released soon, as hinted by Bu. If the iPhone 17 Air indeed measures around 5mm, it would be thinner than Samsung’s competitor, the Galaxy S25 Edge, which is rumored to be about 5.8mm thick.
Apple typically avoids making bold hardware claims, often joining trends after others, yet they produce a refined formula that often leads the smartphone market. The forthcoming ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air could change this narrative in a remarkable way.
Leakster Universe reported on X that the new "slim" version in the iPhone 17 lineup will feature a thickness of just 5.5mm. The post also mentions that aside from its side profile, the iPhone 17 Air will match the height and width of the iPhone 17 Pro.
