Typically, HBO shows are challenging to watch unless you subscribe to HBO or the streaming platform Max. However, Variety is reporting that standard cable subscribers will soon have the opportunity to catch two recent HBO hits in the upcoming weeks.
The latest season of the popular crime anthology series, True Detective: Night Country, is set to premiere on TNT on March 28. Meanwhile, Hacks, an acclaimed comedy exclusive to Max, will start airing on TBS on April 3, showcasing the entire first three seasons ahead of its fourth season launch on Max on April 10.
As is customary for content aired on those networks, episodes of both shows will be edited to comply with broadcast standards.
This is not the first instance of HBO sharing its content with cable networks, but it marks the first time that recently aired or currently airing shows are included. Channing Dungey, CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, indicated that this might be the beginning of a series of experiments aimed at attracting new subscribers to HBO and Max.
"We are thrilled to begin exploring innovative ways to leverage our remarkable WB library and the latest programming from our sister companies across our leading cable networks," Dungey stated. "With Hacks and True Detective: Night Country, we have award-winning fan favorites to engage our viewers on our networks and a compelling reason for HBO/Max subscribers to connect with TNT and TBS, creating a beneficial cycle for WBD that enhances all our platforms and incredible shows."

Barry Jenkins is currently developing the fourth season of True Detective for HBO.
It has been over three years since the conclusion of the third season of True Detective on HBO. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new season titled True Detective: Night Country is in the works. THR mentions that nothing has been finalized yet, but Barry Jenkins is expected to serve as executive producer for the fourth season, with Issa Lopez also involved as an executive producer, writer, and director of the first episode. Original stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are likely to return as executive producers. However, series creator Nic Pizzolatto will not have any formal role in the new season.
It’s confirmed that Ted Lasso will be returning for a fourth season.
When the third season of Ted Lasso concluded in May 2023, the title character left his beloved AFC Richmond team in England and returned to the U.S. to be with his son, Henry, which felt like a natural ending for the series finale that many expected. Nearly two years later, Jason Sudeikis, the series star, revealed that Ted Lasso will return to Apple TV+ for a fourth season.
During an appearance on the New Heights podcast (via The Radio Times), Sudeikis mentioned that the upcoming season will feature his character coaching a women’s team. Whether this team will be a soccer team in the U.S. or a football team in Europe is yet to be determined. Even Sudeikis admits he is unaware of the narrative direction for the fourth season or its setting.
