NYT Connections: clues and solutions for Saturday, March 15.
Connections is regarded as one of the top puzzle games from the New York Times. The objective of the game is to classify a set of 16 words into four hidden (for the moment) groups by determining how the words are interconnected. The puzzle resets every night at midnight, and each new puzzle presents a different level of difficulty. Similar to Wordle, players can track their winning streak and compare their scores with friends.
Some days can be more challenging than others — akin to other favorites from NYT Games like The Mini and Strands. If you're having difficulty with today’s puzzle, refer to our Connections tips and tricks guide for effective strategies or check out the hints for today’s Connections puzzle listed below. And if that's not enough, we will provide the answers to today’s puzzle at the end.
How to play Connections
Connections is a daily game centered around identifying common connections between words. Players need to choose four groups of four words, allowing for no more than three mistakes. Play now. https://t.co/YITfSnqODb pic.twitter.com/CqObVOqeUs

You can play Connections on the New York Times website or via the NYT Games app on iOS or Android.
In Connections, you will see a grid with 16 words — the goal is to sort these words into four sets of four by recognizing the relationships that connect them. These sets can include themes like titles of video game franchises, sequels in book series, hues of red, names of restaurant chains, etc.
Some words may appear to fit into multiple themes, but there is only one completely correct solution. You can shuffle the word grid and rearrange them to better identify potential connections.
Each group is color-coded. The yellow group is the easiest to discern, followed by green, blue, and purple groups.
Select four words and click Submit. If you guess correctly, the four words will be eliminated from the grid, and the connecting theme will be displayed. An incorrect guess counts as a mistake, and you have a total of four mistakes before the game concludes.

Who edits the NYT Connections game?
Wyna Liu, who has been editing puzzles at The New York Times since 2020, handles the daily editing of Connections.
“A few months ago, I received a new assignment: Create the game boards for Connections, a category matching game that had just been approved and was looking for an editor,” Liu stated in an article discussing her process in June 2024. Most of my experience with puzzles has been with crosswords, and I was thrilled about the opportunity to try something new. I’ve enjoyed discovering how puzzle editing functions once a game is greenlit and observing how our team integrates into a larger framework.”
On the one-year anniversary of Connections launching earlier this year, Liu shared this TikTok about her favorite puzzles thus far:
