NYT Connections: clues and solutions for Saturday, March 1.
Connections is among the top puzzle games available from the New York Times. In this game, you are required to categorize a selection of 16 words into four secret groups by determining how the words are interconnected. The puzzle resets every night at midnight, with each new challenge presenting varying levels of difficulty. Similar to Wordle, you can track your winning streak and compare scores with friends.
Some days can be more challenging—similar to other popular NYT Games like The Mini and Strands. If you find yourself struggling with today’s puzzle, feel free to consult our Connections tips and tricks guide for effective strategies or check out the hints for today’s Connections puzzle below. And if you’re still stuck, we’ll share today’s answers at the end.

In Connections, you will see a grid with 16 words; your goal is to organize these words into four groups of four by discovering the connections that bind them. These groups may include themes like titles of video game franchises, sequels in book series, shades of red, names of chain restaurants, and more.
There are often words that appear applicable to various themes, yet there is only one answer that is completely correct. You have the option to shuffle the word grid and rearrange them to better see possible connections.
Each group is color-coded, with the yellow group being the easiest to identify, followed by green, blue, and purple.
Choose four words and click Submit. If you’re correct, those four words will disappear from the grid and the theme connecting them will be revealed. If you guess incorrectly, it will count as a mistake. You are allowed only four mistakes before the game concludes.

Who is the editor of the NYT Connections game?
Wyna Liu, who has been editing puzzles at The New York Times since 2020, oversees the Connections game daily. “A few months ago, a new assignment came my way: Create the game boards for Connections, a category matching game that had recently received approval and was in need of an editor,” Liu wrote in an article discussing her process in June 2024. Most of my puzzle editing experience has been in crosswords, and I was thrilled at the opportunity to try something different. I’ve enjoyed discovering how puzzle editing unfolds once a game is approved, and understanding how our team fits into the broader context.”
On the one-year anniversary of the Connections launch earlier this year, Liu shared this TikTok about her favorite puzzles thus far:
