OpenAI unveiled its Sora text-to-video generation tool in late 2024 and expanded its availability to the European market at the end of February this year. It appears that the next step for Sora is integration into the ChatGPT app.

As stated in a TechCrunch report referencing internal discussions, OpenAI is planning to incorporate the video creation AI tool into ChatGPT. Until now, the video generator has only been accessible through a web client and has been available exclusively to paid users. However, the video generation features within the ChatGPT app will be more limited than those offered through the dedicated Sora web dashboard. Currently, there is no specific timeline for when Sora will be integrated into the ChatGPT experience.

It seems OpenAI is keen on remaining competitive in the AI sector, especially with competitors like xAI and DeepSeek increasing pressure. Thus, integrating Sora into a platform with over 400 million weekly active users makes strategic sense. Sora is one of OpenAI’s flagship products, and introducing it as an integrated tool for ChatGPT users would undoubtedly provide added motivation. Additionally, it would likely encourage more subscriptions, as access to Sora is restricted to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users.

The highly talked-about video generation tool is not the only enhancement coming to ChatGPT soon. Earlier this week, OpenAI launched its most sophisticated AI model yet, named GPT-4.5, and has started a limited rollout. A few days before that, the company’s resource-intensive Deep Research tool began expanding to ChatGPT Plus subscribers. This tool offers an agentic experience similar to Google Gemini’s Deep Research tool, providing well-researched information in a detailed format.

Next on the agenda is the Operator, OpenAI’s primary agentic tool capable of autonomously handling various tasks for users. It can navigate the web, fill in necessary information, and execute requests without requiring further user input. Operator is currently only available to ChatGPT Pro subscribers and began its expansion into more markets just earlier this month. OpenAI has already established partnerships with companies like Uber, Instacart, and DoorDash to translate user queries into actionable tasks when Operator is activated.

Perplexity surpasses Gemini and ChatGPT with an impressive AI offering.

What happens if you instruct an AI chatbot to browse the web, search for a specific type of source, and create a comprehensive report based on the information it gathers? Gemini can accomplish this for $20 per month or $200 monthly, if you prefer ChatGPT. Perplexity will provide this service for free—albeit a few times each day. The company has named its latest tool Deep Research, similar to offerings from OpenAI and Google Gemini.

Our dependence on AI-generated news could potentially lead to more bank runs, as indicated by a recent study.

According to a new report by the U.K.-based research firm Say No to Disinfo, alongside communication company Fenimore Harper, generative AI systems can easily be exploited to fabricate misleading stories on social media, suggesting that banks have particular security vulnerabilities or that their customers' funds may not be secure.

Elon Musk won’t pursue OpenAI with his billions as long as it remains a non-profit.

Elon Musk, one of the original founders of OpenAI, departed before ChatGPT's launch due to his dissatisfaction with the non-profit's shift to a profit-driven model. Recently, Musk made a bid to acquire OpenAI’s non-profit arm for $97.4 billion, but he has stated that he will withdraw the offer if the AI organization abandons its non-profit goals. According to a court filing from Musk’s lawyer, as reported by Reuters, “If the OpenAI board is willing to uphold the charity's mission and agree to remove the 'for sale' sign from its assets by ceasing its conversion, Musk will retract the bid.”
