      eBay is introducing several new features that will be a relief for shoppers looking for local bargains but often get caught off guard by shipping options. The online marketplace has utilized artificial intelligence to enhance its extensive seller network based on criteria like business history, location, and shopping preferences.

      The most significant update will be a delivery estimate displayed on each product card. Customers will see the timeframe for how many days it will take for the product to be delivered to their homes.

      Additionally, the product card will clearly specify whether shipping is complimentary or if there will be an additional charge on top of the listed price. To simplify the shopping experience further, a new filter will allow users to refine their searches to show products that ship rapidly or are available for local pickup.

      There will be three new filters in the “Shipping and pickup” section. Users can select from options to view only items that offer free shipping or those that are expected to arrive within the next 2-4 days. This approach is reminiscent of competitors like Amazon, which allow users to search for same-day delivery options. Another enhancement to eBay's interface is the local pickup option, which filters search results to display only items that can be picked up in person within a certain radius. Many shoppers of used items prefer local pickup as it allows them to inspect the product before completing the purchase.

      Additionally, eBay will indicate the exact distance of the seller from the buyer, allowing customers to assess the feasibility of local pickup. While these updates are not entirely innovative, they are certainly convenient.

      The company is also launching a new eBay Top-Service badge for sellers who meet its trust and business health criteria. Currently available only in Germany, this badge replaces older certification systems like “eBay Plus.” The goal is to help buyers easily find businesses or products that adhere to high-quality retail standards, including fast and free shipping, free returns, and reliable sellers, according to the company.
