Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)
Paramount Pictures
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the well-known tabletop role-playing game to the big screen, featuring bard Edgin Darvis (Chris Pine) and his companions, including Holga Kilgore (Michelle Rodriguez), on a quest to steal a powerful ancient relic. Darvis’s motivation is to bring his wife back to life after her murder linked to his dangerous profession.
This film masterfully combines action, humor, and fantasy, making it enjoyable for the whole family. Although it didn't achieve significant box office success, the heist movie has garnered positive reviews, with our reviewer describing it as a “breath of fresh air,” featuring a charming cast and an “ingenious and entertaining script.” It’s a must-see, particularly for fans familiar with D&D, but equally enjoyable for those who are not.

Ted (2012)
Universal Pictures
If you’re in need of a good laugh this month, the uproarious fantasy comedy Ted is exiting Amazon Prime Video, including both the rated and unrated editions. The need for two versions arises from the film's outrageously risqué humor. Starring Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett, an aimless slacker, the story follows his life with Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane), the teddy bear that miraculously came to life when John was eight years old. John’s girlfriend, Lori (Mila Kunis), wants him to grow up and becomes hesitant to advance their relationship unless Ted moves out.
The film tracks John’s attempts to help Ted achieve independence while he himself struggles to part with his beloved toy. The plot thickens as an obsessed stalker named Donny (Giovanni Ribisi) kidnaps Ted, hoping to claim him for himself. Yes, it’s as absurd as it sounds, but Ted is a perfect movie to disengage your mind and enjoy for an hour and a half.

American Sniper (2014)
Warner Bros.
Intense, emotional, and relevant during wartime, American Sniper dramatizes the true story of Chris Kyle, a U.S. military sharpshooter known for his remarkable accuracy throughout four tours in the Iraq War. However, his exceptional skills come at a personal cost, as Kyle struggles significantly to adjust back to family life.
Bradley Cooper delivers an outstanding performance, directed by Clint Eastwood, and American Sniper received six Oscar nominations and became one of the top-grossing films of 2014. Even more than a decade later, it continues to resonate deeply with viewers.

The Blues Brothers (1980)
Universal Pictures
As you continue celebrating the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live, The Blues Brothers is a quintessential film originating from an SNL sketch. As noted in the documentary Ladies & Gentleman…50 Years of SNL Music, creator Lorne Michaels initially found the sketch concept unfunny. By chance, the Blues Brothers made their debut on air during a timing gap in a live episode, quickly becoming a massive hit.
Starring the late John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as Jake and Elwood Blues, the film follows their mission to save the orphanage where they grew up from closure. This involves raising funds through musical performances, but complications arise with various adversaries—including neo-Nazis, a country band, and law enforcement—trying to settle old scores. Today, The Blues Brothers stands as a cult classic; the characters are iconic, and the sketch remains one of the most memorable in SNL history.
