If Miles Teller takes to the skies again in Top Gun 3, he has a specific request for Tom Cruise. While promoting The Gorge on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Teller was questioned about the progress of Top Gun 3. He played it cool, stating that he does not hold the authority to “greenlight that thing.” When Colbert sought further information, Teller indicated that if Top Gun 3 enters production, he requires time to prepare his beach body.
“I just told Tom, I need enough time, [and a] heads up for me to get in shape,” Teller humorously remarked. “It’s one month per ab. I need six months heads up.”
Teller, who portrayed Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw in Top Gun: Maverick, neither confirmed nor denied the development of Top Gun 3. He did, however, recognize the excitement for the third installment from both fans and the “creative side.”
In February 2024, Puck News reported that Paramount was working on Top Gun 3. Maverick co-writer Ehren Kruger has been selected to develop the script. The studio hopes to entice Maverick director Joseph Kosinski to return for Top Gun 3. Cruise, Teller, and Glen Powell, who portrayed Lt. Jake “Hangman” Seresin, are expected to reprise their roles. Paramount has yet to officially greenlight the project, with Cruise and his team having the final word on the storyline.

However, Cruise and the team went even further; not only were the actors flying their planes, but they were also capturing in-cockpit footage for the film. That's not something you typically learn in film school!
