This newly designed device incorporates a serviceable chassis made from recycled aluminum, Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors, and a 16-inch OLED display.

      Simplified Repairs, Extended Lifespan

      With the Vero 16, Acer has enhanced its sustainability initiative from the 3R approach (reduce, reuse, recycle) to the 4R strategy, incorporating repairability into its core design principles. The laptop is equipped with a tool-free access latch on its bottom cover, allowing users easy entry to internal components for quick battery and SSD replacement. It also features removable I/O port covers and a detachable hinge, making frequent repairs more straightforward than on most laptops. Acer states that the chassis is designed to accommodate processor upgrades for at least two generations, a rare assurance in a market where replacing entire machines is the norm.

      In terms of durability, the Vero 16 meets MIL-STD-810H standards and has a solvent-free powder coat that reduces volatile organic compound emissions and is more durable than conventional paint. The top and palm rest covers are made from a blend of 50% post-industrial recycled aluminum and 50% low-carbon aluminum, and the laptop will be packaged in fully recyclable materials.

      High-End Specifications with On-Device AI

      The Vero 16 combines its repair-friendly design with high-performance hardware. Users can configure it with an Intel Core Ultra X9 388H processor, alongside up to 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. A 71Wh battery supports extended use throughout the day. As a Copilot+ PC, the device offers on-device AI functionalities such as Live Captions, Cocreator, and Acer's own PurifiedView and Purified Voice tools for calls and video meetings.

      Available display options include a 16-inch 3K WQXGA+ OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as two 16-inch WUXGA OLED alternatives, one of which features touch support for lower-end configurations. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7 and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Acer has not yet disclosed pricing, but the Vero 16 is expected to launch in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in the first quarter of 2027, with specific specifications and pricing varying by region.

      If the claims about repairability prove valid in practical use, the Vero 16 could provide significant competition to Framework, which has had minimal challengers in this sector. Acer’s specifications appear to meet many criteria on paper, and there's anticipation to see the laptop's performance upon its release next year.
