Acer's latest ePaper monitor aims to enhance your screen time comfort.

No blue light, no glare—just a paper-like experience for your next work session.

At its press event during IFA 2026 in Berlin, Acer introduced a wide range of new devices, including tablets, routers, and a projector. As someone passionate about e-readers, the Acer EP130K, a portable ePaper monitor designed for individuals who spend long hours in front of screens, particularly captured my attention.

What sets the EP130K apart from a standard monitor?

Unlike conventional LCD or OLED displays, the EP130K forgoes the backlight altogether, resulting in no blue light and no glare. This design enhances the viewing experience, especially when working outdoors or in bright lighting conditions. The monitor is aimed at individuals who frequently read, write, or work extensively on screens.

The EP130K also offers touch support, allowing you to use a stylus or your finger to write, draw, or navigate. It can switch between color and black-and-white modes depending on your activity.

With a resolution of 3200 x 2400 and a refresh rate of 60Hz, this ePaper panel stands out. Many ePaper displays tend to feel sluggish due to lower refresh rates, but the EP130K’s 60Hz refresh rate ensures that you won’t notice any dropped frames, providing a smooth experience for both work and media viewing.

      Why consider an ePaper monitor?

If you have ever experienced eye strain from looking at a bright screen all day, an ePaper monitor like the EP130K might be worth exploring. It connects via a single USB Type-C cable that manages power, video, and data, which simplifies setup.

Additionally, it features bi-stability, allowing the image to remain on the screen even after disconnection. This functionality makes it an excellent reference monitor; you can display a document, unplug it, and continue referencing without using any power.

Acer has yet to announce pricing or availability, but if you are an e-paper enthusiast, this is a product to watch closely.

Acer has just introduced an incredibly lightweight 14-inch laptop with a 3K OLED option.

The Swift Blade 14 measures just 12.9mm thick and is constructed from a combination of magnesium-aluminum alloy and carbon fiber.

Following Apple’s launch of the MacBook Neo, laptop manufacturers have started releasing new models to compete in the $700 range. Dell recently entered this space with the student-oriented 14S, and now Acer has announced a new lightweight Windows laptop called the Swift Blade 14 at IFA Berlin. This 14-inch laptop weighs 799 grams, or 1.76 pounds, and has a thickness of 12.9mm, making it significantly lighter than the 2.7-pound MacBook Neo, with only a small difference in thickness. Acer has not yet revealed pricing, making it premature to assess how the Swift Blade 14 will compare to Apple’s $699 laptop in terms of value. Its specifications include an optional 3K OLED display, Intel Core Series 3 processors, 12GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage.
