Samsung’s Galaxy Book6 is making a splash in the MacBook Neo market with claims of a 25-hour battery life.

Samsung has unveiled a new 14-inch Galaxy Book6, priced starting at $799.99 in the US, positioning itself as a “budget” premium laptop option. This brings the latest addition to its laptop lineup below the $1,000 mark for the first time, whereas the earlier Galaxy Book 6 launched earlier this year priced just over $1,000. The new model is designed to be more accessible.

However, it's more than just a $250 discount; the company has developed a more basic configuration targeted at everyday use, featuring Intel Core 3 or Core 5 Series 3 processors, integrated Intel graphics, 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and storage options of up to 512GB in the US. At $800, it directly competes with Apple’s entry-level MacBook.

Following the announcement of the MacBook Neo, other major Windows laptop manufacturers such as Acer and Dell rushed to release more affordable premium notebooks. Currently, the MacBook Neo starts at $699, equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, rising to $799 for the 512GB option—placing it in direct competition with Samsung's new pricing. To reach this price, the Galaxy Book6 opts for a 14-inch 1920 x 1200 LCD rated at 350 nits instead of the stunning AMOLED displays found in the Galaxy Book 6 Pro and Ultra models.

The laptop features a standard clickpad, integrated graphics, and notably lacks a backlit keyboard, which is disappointing for an $800 device. Samsung claims the 61.2Wh battery can provide up to 25 hours of usage, and the 45W USB-C charging can replenish roughly 33% in just 30 minutes. Weighing 1.35kg (2.98 pounds) and measuring 15.7mm in thickness, the Galaxy Book6 includes two USB-C ports, a USB-A port, HDMI 1.4, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, contrasting with Apple’s limited port selection.

This laptop's hardware is not the only aspect that differentiates it from the growing market of affordable Windows devices. The new Book6 incorporates features like AI Select, AI Cut Out, and Note Assist, along with Quick Share and Storage Share for file transfers between Galaxy devices. Multi Control allows the use of a single keyboard and mouse across compatible Galaxy phones and tablets, while Second Screen enables a Galaxy Tab to function as an additional display.

Samsung has previously produced excellent Galaxy Book6 models, but the Pro version began at $1,599.99, and the Snapdragon-powered Book 6 Edge was priced at $2,099.99. Thus, this new model offers a more economical entry into the Galaxy ecosystem for users with a Galaxy phone. Samsung states that the 14-inch Galaxy Book6 will be available on Samsung.com and Amazon by October 5, starting at $799.99. US customers can choose between 8GB or 16GB of RAM, with 256GB or 512GB of storage, available in Gray or the more vibrant Violet Silver finish.
