JBL challenges Sonos with an updated range of Wi-Fi speakers for your home.
JBL's latest Cove series introduces three Wi-Fi-enabled speakers featuring Dolby Atmos, multi-room audio capabilities, and self-tuning functionality.
JBL is entering the whole-home wireless audio market with its new JBL Cove speaker line. Renowned for its portable Bluetooth speakers and large PartyBox offerings, the audio giant expands its portfolio with a modular, Wi-Fi-connected system aimed at delivering high-quality sound throughout the home.
A trio of Wi-Fi speakers designed for every room
The JBL Cove lineup launches with three models intended to adapt to different room sizes and portability needs. Each speaker in the series connects via Wi-Fi, supports high-resolution streaming, and integrates with the JBL One app for easy grouping and room management.
JBL Cove M1
The JBL Cove M1 is the entry-level model, featuring a compact design with three tweeters, one woofer, and JBL’s AI Sound Boost technology to minimize distortion even at higher volumes. The Cove P1 is a more adaptable option, designed for portability with its battery-powered functionality. It offers up to 14 hours of playback on a single charge and includes native support for Dolby Atmos playback, making it perfect for moving around the house or taking outdoors.
JBL Cove P1
At the top of the range is the JBL Cove X1, designed for larger spaces. It features four tweeters, dual woofers, and Dolby Atmos support, delivering the most extensive acoustic coverage in the lineup. All three speakers can function independently or can be grouped for a multi-room setup. The Cove series also boasts self-tuning capabilities to enhance acoustics based on their placement, and they can serve as wireless rear surround speakers when paired with JBL MK2 series soundbars.
JBL Cove X1
In terms of smart home features, JBL has announced that the Cove lineup will soon support built-in voice controls powered by Amazon's Alexa+ assistant through an over-the-air update later this year in the US.
Pricing and availability
JBL has competitively priced the Cove system against established brands. The Cove M1 is priced at $230, the Cove P1 at $400, and the premium Cove X1 at $450. All models will be available in black and white color options beginning September 13 in the US.

However, after primarily using it for two weeks for gaming and Discord calls on my PC, I now find myself using it daily.
