New GIGABYTE GAMING A16 with RTX 50 graphics cards

GIGABYTE has announced that its fresh gaming laptop GAMING A16 can now be considered not just in pictures. The company, which produces everything that can heat up and process bits, decided to please gamers tired of compromises between power and wallet size.

In the new model, engineers tried to pack the maximum hardware into a thickness of 19.45 millimeters — and this is with an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor and RTX 50 series graphics cards inside.

Inside the laptop, either an RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 can be installed, consuming up to 115 watts of power. In practice, this means they can indeed operate at full strength. Thanks to such power delivery, NVIDIA's Blackwell architecture can show what it's capable of, and technologies like DLSS 4.5 and Reflex will do their job — the picture will become smoother, and latency will decrease. As assured, even the most demanding projects are unlikely to make this system strain too much.

But laptops do not live by hardware alone, so the developers also thought about the users' eyes. The laptop features a 16-inch WQXGA screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The bezels around the display are made thin to ensure that useful area is not wasted. A refresh rate of 165 Hz and a response time of 3 ms are for those who are used to seeing every pixel in dynamic shootouts, not blurred silhouettes. A brightness of 500 nits and full sRGB coverage mean that colors won't fade even in bright sunlight, so you can play outside if you get tired of sitting at home.

Any experienced gamer knows that powerful hardware without proper cooling is just an expensive heater. GIGABYTE, apparently, remembers this too, because the new model is equipped with the WINDFORCE INFINITY EX system. Behind this formidable name are two fans with 134 blades and a clever air intake scheme. Four exhaust channels and the Icy Touch design are intended to dissipate heat so effectively that the user's palms won't feel the device heating up even after hours of raiding.

Additionally, the laptop has an AI assistant named GiMATE. It doesn't just take up memory space; it genuinely tries to be useful. The large language model operates locally, so there's no fear of personal data drifting into the cloud. GiMATE can adjust settings for different tasks, and its branches like Creator and Coder allow generating images or assisting with code without resorting to external services. It seems to be an attempt to make a gaming machine also a tool for creativity, and there is some reason in that.

With all its capabilities, the GAMING A16 does not look like a heavyweight monster. Weighing 2.2 kg and with a thickness of just under two centimeters, it can feel quite decent in a backpack. The 76 Wh battery, according to the manufacturer, should last for 14 hours without a socket. However, this figure should be taken more as an optimistic marketing statement. It's also nice that the lid opens 180 degrees, and the Golden Curve keyboard with a 1.7 mm travel promises tactile pleasure from keystrokes. Completing the picture is the rich sound of Dolby Atmos, which should create a sense of presence even without headphones.

The new model is already on sale, although exact configurations and their availability depend on the region. All that's left is to check the nearest store and decide if these 115 watts, artificial intelligence, and 500 nits are worth parting with a decent amount of money.
