A new certification diminishes expectations for a larger Galaxy S26 FE battery

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 FE is anticipated to launch later this week, and one of the last remaining uncertainties about the device may have just been clarified. Unfortunately, it’s not the improvement I was hoping for.

Brazil's regulator Anatel has certified the Galaxy S26 FE ahead of its expected debut on August 27. As initially reported by Tecnoblog, the certification confirms a 4,900mAh battery, the same capacity as last year’s Galaxy S25 FE.

This news is particularly disappointing, especially given previous reports suggesting that Samsung might adopt silicon-carbon battery technology for the S26 FE. If this information is accurate, Samsung seems to be utilizing the newer technology without actually providing consumers with a larger battery.

      Samsung maintains the 4,900mAh capacity

Silicon-carbon batteries can offer greater capacity within the same physical dimensions, enabling manufacturers to exceed 5,000mAh without significantly increasing device thickness. However, Samsung may be taking a different route with the S26 FE.

As we noted earlier, the company may opt to use this technology to make the phone slimmer while retaining the 4,900mAh capacity. The Anatel certification lends weight to this notion. The filing also confirms support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and a 25W charger included for Brazil, while previous leaks suggest the phone may support 45W charging.

Most other hardware specifications seem familiar as well

The battery isn’t the only component that is expected to carry over. Previous leaks indicate a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display along with 8GB of RAM and options for 128GB or 256GB of storage. Samsung is expected to use the Exynos 2500, moving on from the S25 FE’s Exynos 2400, but still trailing behind the newer Exynos 2600 found in the standard Galaxy S26 series.

The rear cameras are also anticipated to remain at 50MP for the main sensor, 12MP for the ultrawide, and 8MP for the 3x telephoto. Hopefully, the software will introduce something new; recent hands-on footage showed Samsung’s Horizon Lock camera feature operating on what appears to be the S26 FE.

Samsung has officially scheduled its next Galaxy event for August 27, where it will unveil a new addition to the Galaxy S26 family. If the leaked information is accurate, the S26 FE looks set to be a rather uninspiring update.
