If there's a game that could release alongside GTA 6, it would be the Ocarina of Time Remake.
When a major studio or publisher launches a significant AAA title, other developers usually steer clear of releasing their games around the same time to prevent their sales from being overshadowed by the more popular title. Therefore, when the launch date for Grand Theft Auto 6 was announced, it was evident that no other game would be launching in the same month.
However, another game developer may be daring enough to contest it with a substantial release of their own. A recent finding on Nintendo’s UK store has led to speculation that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake could be set to launch on November 12, just a week before GTA 6 hits the shelves on November 19.
This theory was first shared on Reddit when users noticed November listings for two upcoming amiibo sets related to Kirby Air Riders. Nintendo has a history of releasing new amiibo alongside significant first-party game launches, and their November 2026 calendar currently does not feature any announced exclusives. Initially, the store seemed to indicate November 11, but the Reddit user later discovered that the displayed date varies by time zone, with the UK showing November 12.

Nintendo has only officially stated that Ocarina of Time will be released on Switch 2 sometime in 2026. However, there is some historical context for this speculation regarding amiibo. Recent figures for Mineru’s Construct, Meta Knight and Shadow Star, and Dedede and Tank Star have coincided with significant Nintendo releases such as Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Pokémon Pokopia, and Rhythm Heaven Groove.
Launching on November 12 would thus give Nintendo one week before what is likely to be the most formidable release on this year's calendar. Rockstar has confirmed GTA 6 for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with preorders already available. The $79.99 blockbuster marks the return of players to Vice City, over 13 years after GTA 5's initial launch.
At present, there is no announced version of GTA 6 for Switch 2, meaning that Nintendo would still maintain the biggest holiday release on its hardware. Ocarina remains one of the most cherished titles in Nintendo's history, giving a full-fledged revival on Switch 2 significantly more importance than a typical remake.

Nintendo revealed the new Ocarina of Time during its June Direct, stating that the N64 classic will be “reborn” exclusively for Switch 2. Outside of the 2026 time frame, Nintendo has remained unusually silent regarding the release date and details of the remake.
The November theory could easily fall apart if Nintendo makes an announcement about its holiday schedule. An amiibo listing does not serve as confirmation of a Zelda launch. Nevertheless, if publishers plan to tiptoe around GTA 6 in November, few games come to mind that Nintendo would confidently release a week earlier. Ocarina of Time is certainly one of them, the video game equivalent of a "Doomsday," if you will.
